Continuation of my previous sunrise image, taken 14 minutes later as the ocean waits for the sun at Point Lonsdale beach looking over Port Phillip Bay to the Mornington Peninsula. This was one of the most beautiful sunrises that I have seen. Canon 40D w/ EF-S 10-22mm / Focal length @ 10mm / Aperture: f/22 / Shutter: 3.2sec / ISO: 100 Thanks to people in the Mornington Peninsula group who voted for this photo as their favourite in the Sunset… Sunrise beach scene challenge on 30/9/08. ~
Some of you will remember Carmel looking for someone to accompany her on a sunrise shoot. THIS is what you all missed! First outing with my new toy. Guess who’s a happy boy! Camera: Canon 5D Mark II / Lens: Ef 17-40 f4.0L @ 17mm / Aperture: f16 / Shutter: 2 sec / ISO: 50 / Filter: ND Grad / Post Processing: Minor adjustments in Lightroom
Was it worth getting up at 4am? Absolutely! Point Lonsdale jetty at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay
Taken at Point Lonsdale, Victoria, Australia.
With the sun still rising at Point Lonsdale, the clouds continued to glow vibrant orange and cast the most amazing reflections on the water, and the fisherman on the pier in the distance got a catch (which we saw later on). I liked the balance in this shot, with the clouds and reflections, and the rock and pier balancing it out. Thanks for viewing. Canon 40D w/ EF-S 10-22mm / Focal length @ 10mm / Aperture: f/22 / Shutter: 1/10 sec / ISO: 100
Another shot at Point Lonsdale, Australia. The colours only lasted a moment, fired as many shots as i could in the hope that one would turn out well. / I often hear people say ‘yeah, but its photoshopped’. While i’ve had to adjust brightness and contrast on a computer, the colours come from shooting at the right time.

As the sun came up at Point Lonsdale, the clouds glowed an amazing orange and cast reflections off the fresh sea water in the deep, aqua, rock pools. Thanks for viewing. Canon 40D w/ EF-S 10-22mm / Focal length @ 10mm / Aperture: f/22 / Shutter: 1/2 sec / ISO: 100
To passersby, i must look pretty weird, especially at sunset. You should see me. Frantically taking shots from all angles and avoiding getting drenched. I act as if this is the last sunset ever!

It was a very unusual sky tonight, the sunset actually illuminated the rain on the horizon, turning it red and yes I got very wet once again! ;P Point Lonsdale, Victoria, Australia Camera: Canon EOS 350D Lens: Canon 18-55mm @ focal length 18mm Exposure: 5 sec, f16, ISO 100 Filters: Hoya UV, Cokin 121S ND Grad Processing: Adobe Photoshop CS More Images @ SimoneByrne.com.au Thanks for looking, all comments greatly appreciated, Simone.

Point Lonsdale lighthouse on a Summer morning just as the sun’s ray’s peaked over the horizon.

The light was just incredible, but I had to move quickly before it faded, fortunately there was a nice little rock pool sitting there for foreground interest. It’s times like these when I wish I had a 10-22mm lens so I could fit it all in! © Simone Byrne Photography, 2009. All Rights Reserved. 10th June, 2009 I found myself in a very precarious position taking this shot. Flush against another rockface on a small ledge, I kept getting swamped by the incoming waves and seaspray with barely enough room to compose the image. I kept thinking, just one more shot and then this rogue wave snuck up, bounced me around and tried to steal my camera out of my hands, lucky I had the strap around my arm or I would have lost the lot. But yeah in hindsight maybe I should have let the ocean have its way and take it out for a burial at sea. It goes without saying that I got drenched again, and the wind chill factor was of Antarctic proportions! This may well be the last shoot with my 350D, the camera God’s have spoken and it be time for an upgrade, now where did I plant that money tree??!!
