Let the music begin, / / I will dance for you. / / I will smile and twirl / / In my many colours. / / Some shall laugh. / / Some shall fear. I dance for you, / / For you alone, / / And yet you are gone. / / Tears darken my many colours. / / Some shall laugh. / / Some shall fear. The lights burn brilliantly—/ / Golden hues upon my powdered face, / / My red smile melting / / To mix with many colours. / / Some shall laugh. / / Some shall fear. I am iconic / / As the circus shame, / / The joker and the monster / / In my cloaks of many colours. / / Some shall laugh. / / Some shall fear. Yet you will not, / / You for whom I dance / / And twirl and smile / / In my many, many colours. / / Some shall laugh. / / Some shall fear. / / The saddest of all clowns.

My teeth are shining / x-rays reveal root of all / bank balance decay Got back from my dentist yesterday and all my workmates say I got ripped. Have got a slight infection in the gum near my wisdom tooth. Had a descale, two small x-rays, an examination, referral for more x-rays and antibiotics. Got charged $220. Someone new took over since my husband went there last time when he had x-rays and a tooth pulled for $180. Now I am booked in for two fillings which I am told will cost $380 to $500 depending on if it takes 1/2 hour or 1 hour (plus more fillings to come). What I really wanted was to get my wisom teeth dealt with as that is what is causing me real pain. A friend has recommended another dentist who she says is really good and doesn’t overcharge, but as I have had the initial consult should I be looking around? After all the dentist is the expert not me. Does anyone know if $100 a normal charge for descaling that takes 1/2 hour ? That might give me an idea if I am being totally ripped.

The sky seems to unfold itself, as if in anger. No noise, just brilliant flashes of light. Flashes of light, miles into the air. Some, in a jagged haste, cut out into the horizon. The flashes light my pen, and my little boat. I have come here to watch the show, the spectacle that mother nature performs at her leisure. The water is so calm, unaware of the approaching rage. My small craft simply turns and rocks in the late summer breeze. / I watch as each bolt reaches me, by way of reflection. Each flash is mimicked by the mirror-like surface of the dark water. Calm is so priceless. But this calm, it sits next to chaos. Confusion for someone, somewhere else. Right now, this is my boat, my lake, and my calm. My beautiful calm. / Clayton Turner

Just want to say sorry for my few days of inactivity – my computer has been down. I’ve go a xp s2 version and had tried outlook explorer 6 on it but it just wasn’t having it. I was also looking to add extras but have given up for now and done system restore to get back again. Nightmare and what a waste of time. Fingers crossed I’ll be back a while now! Have tried to catch up with comments where I can, hope I haven’t missed anyone – drop me a hint otherwise and I will try to catch a glimpse. Some great standards going on, I’m very envious – you clever bunch! Kindest thoughts as ever!

Just a thought that struck me for everyone really that I thought would be more use here than in my comments box really. It came from a thoughtful reply given to me, but which I wanted to extend on as such:- If we do not rest and listen at quiet times, how do we know we haven’t missed something important. Reflection can be enlightening. Meditation is a good way of acheiving restful state. Aside of this it gives a time of peace and rest to our earthly bodies. Time our blood pressures and pulse can have time to calm some, time to just let go and be at ease. A few minutes reflection time can be all needed to set us back on track quickly. Wishing you all a restful day Kindest intentions, Anna-Marie.

  • Boredom Competitions on the 24/7's "What Moves You" Written Finalists Announced!!!
    by bchrisdesigns

The Boredom Competitions on the 24/7 group has announced the finalists for its What Moves You:...

The Boredom Competitions on the 24/7 group has announced the finalists for its What Moves You competition… ...And, guess what?!? / I AM ONE OF THEM!!!! I just got the news yesterday and am still smiling from ear-to-ear! I have not been on RB for that long and have slowly begun participating in contests. I have not won anything yet, nor have I even been a “finalist”. So, I am very excited about this! However, I am kind of sad because the voting period lasts between 04/07-04/08/08 (which makes today the first day of voting) and my piece has not received one vote yet. I think this is because so few people have voted, so far, and because I am really new here and do not know too many people (which I hope to change soon). Don’t get me wrong, I am just happy to be included as a finalist! That alone is wonderful! But, it would be nice to know others like it too! Anyways, if you want to check out my poem, it is entitled Sitting and is basically about the aggravation of sitting in rush hour traffic, The competition guidelines asked for pieces that showcase things that “move” you (both literally and figuratively). And, while my piece is about being stuck in traffic, it is still about moving. I chose this piece because, while a car and driving do “move” a person – traffic does not. So, while this poem may appear to reflect something that does not move me, it is actually depicting something that IS moving me…just at a slower pace, which is aggravating. I also think it works on two levels and has a metaphorical connection to being “moved” as well. Sometimes, what moves me not to get into the car and go is the thought of traffic and “rush hour”. I think it is also what moves many people to exhibit signs of road rage. (Note: Road rage is a fairly common phenomenon here in Southern California!) If you are a member of the group, I hope you read and view all of the written finalists as well as visual finalists and vote accordingly! If you are not a member, then you should definitely consider signing up, as it is an awesome group of people! All the final entries are very good, and so the competition should be a tough race! Good luck to all the finalists, both written and visual!

So, the lovely Anne van Alkemade invited me to participate in some Limericking (Is that even a word? I seem to be coining quite a few new ones today!) over in the forums, and I was more than happy to oblige! After all, he who turns down a Limerick Challenge is a damn fool and not worthy of my attention. Raaaawr! But I digress… So, I was Limericking and noticed that I had hit a Red Bubble milestone! I have reached 200 Forum Posts!!!!!! And, all because of a Limerick. Who would have guessed? A Limerick!!!! This Limerick to be exact: There once was a guy from So Cali / Who was asked to come dilly-dally / So, he hopped right on in / And made others grin / By adding to the limerick tally! Well, better a Limerick than a post telling someone to get off their high horse because I have a small donkey for them to ride you know where…. So, in conclusion, if you are in the mood for some Limericking (and, let’s face it – unless you are ill, crazy, or a douche then you should be down), come visit us and give it a go!!!! For more on Limericking, visit these fine resources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limerick_) http://www.poetry-online.org/limericks.htm Cheers! ~ bchris :o)

Well I’m fed up and in need of a break to get my thoughts together so what better than leaving a few thoughts before I go to Edinburgh for a break…. I just realised my new camera lovingly brought my husband for my last birthday has vanished…I’ve had the house pretty much upside down and know it was last used about 2 weeks ago, the same day we managed to lose a bag of shopping – even though we went straight from shop to car…. gone…. Yes I think the break is needed by both, and lucky we still have the old camera for shots…but its just not the same….. oh well maybe it will show in time…but if not at least its not another health issue to deal with…. Makes you put things tidier and in perspective mind! Kindest thoughts wishes and prayers to all in my absence…keep up the great work, and will catch up as quick as possible on my return?

There are so many things happen in our world that our governments seem to turn a blind eye to. Many things seem not to be news enough, and barely or scarcely hit the headlines. Yet, many of these things are relevant to us, things as artists, writers and poets we hold passionate heart about; how much more so then is our responsibility and duty to bring these things out into the open to raise awareness? in our viewers? Each of us holds our own passions, we can all take small steps in moving our world in the right direction. It is in our works history will be found. What will you be remembered for? What have you revealed of yourself or others? What changes would you like to see? What issues do you have with our world and what or whom do you blame, or how would you change things? What is important to you? Each of us needs to touch the hearts and minds of others to be succesful. We impact other peoples hearts, minds, emotions and souls, we might touch that one person empowered to bring about change…. inbetween we entertain. Take a few moments and think, are you where you want to be now? You could be making life changing decisions, inspiring debate and change for better things. Enter a new year with new focus and direction. Many Seasons Greetings to you all, with a Prosperous New Year ahead.

I thought I should include an entry of what I intend to do with my journal. I will not be posting my poetry or written art in here. This will just be another outlet for me regarding my photos or art and all subjects that come to mind regarding that. I invite all browsers & artists alike to read them & comment. Since I am new to this site & don’t have too much time daily to spend here, I haven’t done much browsing. I am hoping to get to know other artists on redbubble, as there is so much beautiful and thoughtful work here. Thank you to all who view my art, comment, favorite, and support me & my art. Brightest Blessings, Lucertola

Exciting times, I seem to be on a bit of a role this week thanks to all of those who support me and the groups I’m in too! Earlier this week I had the honor of my ‘Budding Beauty’ being featured in the ‘Live, love, dream group’. Today I was told that my ‘Ode to a rose on a sunset’ is featured in the group ‘All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical’. Also that my ‘Such love, I drink from your cup’ is being featured in the group ‘Light in the Darkness’ / and also as featured writer of the week in the group ‘Live, love, dream’; / needless to say I’m absolutely bowled over with your kindness. Might I also thank all those who have added me to watch/favorites lists, it is through the encouragement that continues through the bubble through constant reads and comments that my writing has continued, and for that I’m truly grateful to you all….

Hi folks, am just back from my break away and hoping to get some pictures up just as soon as I buy a new computer – in near future I hope!! lol. soo you won’t have to wait long and then there will be lots!! Yes it rained and there were high winds however because of the layout of the area we were able to dodge the weather for the most until the day we came home! Somerset proved to be showered with both history and beauty and we also went to Torbay in Torquay whilst close…Enjoyed it so much we intend to return soon as is only a couple of hours or so away…Definitely worth a visit if you are willing to travel around a little as there is so much to be discovered…from caves to museums to modern day festivals etc…brilliant shopping day out at Clark’s village in Street too!! One place I highly recommend for its quirkyness and well worth a nosey or maybe arranging a meet at is Watchfield Inn in Highbridge, lovely people, great meals at reasonable prices (eg 2 steak, chips and peas cost us £14.95 and breakfasts are a little over £3), and a very big and interesting pub, with a basic campsite out back too…mmm…might try to arrange a meet for September, so watch this space if interested, I hope its fairly central for many to access? Anyone interested at this point shout up here please, am sure fore those stuck transport wise there might be someone passing nearby who may be willing and at least you can try? Anyway hope all are well, and now to get on with some reads/views/writing…kindest thoughts, Anna-Marie.
