This old tree stands on top a gnarly peak on the far east border of Glassier National Park where the long and great plans suddenly and somewhat unexpectedly jump up in a shear wall of stone. It was not alone but stood with the corpses of many other trees who for some reason or other had ceased being able to live in the hostile environment that had given them birth and carved their living flesh into such masterpieces of wood. This one, though, this one was different. It was bigger and more warped and had lived far longer then any of its brethren or children that lay scatted about, and something in the way the silver wood gleamed, something in the way that it reached so far, forever seeking shelter from the wind, left me standing in awe.

A sailboat folded out of a 6×10mm piece of paper rowing along the lifeline in my palm. Wow I didn’t realize my hand had all these lines :P. I didn’t turn this into a black and white this time because I managed to get a cool light on my hand to make it more waterlike. The flow of life is parrallel to a journey off the land. It begins smooth, then the waves of adulthood brings high tides which we must overcome, However at the end of the ride, everything is smooth again. Ironically the lifeline in my palm depicts this flow; it begins smooth, then there is a big split and begin to ruffle, but towards the end it comes back together again. I don’t know where to go because I don’t really want to go anywhere. The gravity that pulls my feet is annoying and I lift a leg to dance away into the twilight’s shadows. I see through the fog of my own prison and reach out a hand that doesn’t seem like it belongs to me. I reach to the space I have seen in dreams and movies and unremembered journeys. We held hands in my mind. We were married before the sunrise overlooking a hill that drifted downward to the sea and the glass buildings of empty games. We sang to each other in my mind. We agreed to not agree. We were making love as we walked. Yet it was only in my mind. / And now I look at Venetian blinds that are stained with the smoke of memory and loss. I look beyond. I don’t wish to sleep. Not yet. So I allow myself to drift beyond the plastic and the wood and the metal and the plaster and fall into a hike along a rainbow sea that runs through a canyon of vibrant foliage and drifts away through mist and the light of accidental spontaneous freedom. Yet it is only in my mind. Or is it? And do I care?
I can’t keep my tears inside / They burn my eyes / I have permission to cry one more time / For lost love, for broken promises, for beliefs which will never come true…
