“Seeing pink elephants” is a euphemism for drunken hallucination caused by delirium tremens. Delirium tremens is an acute episode of delirium that is usually caused by withdrawal or abstinence, from alcohol following habitual excessive drinking.

This is a poem I wrote about our nephew Eddie while we were on a camping trip. At three yrs. old he used to call himself “Dr. Eddie Appletree”. He made me feel like I could see thru his eyes how he percieved the world to be at the age of three…always smiling and not a care in the world…if only we could carry that feeling thru adulthood.
