This is the beautifully coloured opened seedpod of the Needlewood..or Hakea Leucoptera one of my favourite indigenous plants :) When it has its profuse creamy scented flowers..the noise of many many bees and wasps and flies searching for food amongst the sharp-tipped ‘leaves’ is amazing!!

My short story “Earthbound” is currently being played as a podcast on The Writing Show’s “Halloween Ghast Fest”. This has been a month long podcast of various writers reading their best scary stories for the readers. I am one of five members of the Australian Horror Writer’s Association who has participated. Don’t worry, it’s humourous, never too scary and absolutely no gore! Not my style! So if your interested, or just want to hear what I sound like, pop on over.
