  • On the streets of downtown Sao Paulo, Brazil in the early 80’s. In this busy business district business people and shoppers intermingle and go about their day. Many also stop to have their shoes shined while relaxing and reading the newspaper or to buy goods, like at this produce stand. Image of this downtown market made into an art piece via Photoshop CS2’s “watercolor” filter. Would make a fine wall art piece.

  • Tiananmen Square (simplified Chinese: 天安门广场; traditional Chinese: 天安門廣場; pinyin: Tiān’ānmén Guǎngchǎng) is the large plaza near the center of Beijing, China, named after the Tiananmen (literally, Gate of Heavenly Peace) which sits to its north, separating it from the Forbidden City. It has great cultural significance as a symbol because it was the site of several key events in Chinese history (See below: Events). Outside of China, the square is widely known for the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.[citation needed} Again, note the smog.

  • St Mark’s Campanile is the bell tower of St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, Italy, located in the square (piazza) of the same name. It is a recognizable symbol of the city. The tower is 98.6 meters tall, and stands alone in a corner of St Mark’s Square, near the front of the basilica. It has a simple form, the bulk of which is a plain brick shaft, 12 meters on a side and 50 meters tall, above which is the arched belfry, housing five bells. The Campanile di San Marco, or Belltower of St. Mark’s, has stood for more than a thousand years—or for less than a century, depending on how you define “truth in advertising.”

  • This is my oil pastel drawing based on this photograph of a 1965 (?) Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible that I spotted in the parking lot of Emerald Plaza on Merivale Road in the Ottawa suburb of Nepean in July 2007. I chose to illustrate this photo because I was looking to draw a Corvette anyway, and I really liked the reflection of the scattered clouds over a blue car.
