This is a macro that I took today of a flower in a pot plant which I was given. I just liked the vivid colour, the abstract quality and that this image is totally untouched and 100% natural! Ohh, and take the time to view it larger to see the tiny dew drops on the petal :o)
Dark Purple Water Lily with a Black background. / Taken in a person’s back yard in Ft. Myers, Fl. who has a large man made pond.

This is four photos that I chose to layer to get a similar effect as “nature under water” and “the nature of things” although I used live nature and threw it on printed images for the others. The amazing gifts of the earth that we live with and we survive because of…......we are all connected. A song called Dancing / by Elisa Toffoli
Original photograph taken at the Kooragang Wetland Centre in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. I duplicated the base layer, applied a couple of filters to those copies, added a few tinting layers, and adjusted the layer modes to change look of the piece.
I rarely see a red spider…here is one having a drink!

Trying something new, again! I just love the way this turned out! I was working with my extensions tubes (again!) and this Dogwood blossom was floating in a dish of water…It’s just so soft looking! Macro of a red rose with waterdrops taken with a Samsung GX20 and a Sigma 50mm macro lens. Straight from the camera (except for the RAW conversion process). Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty. The rose was sacred to a number of goddesses (including Isis and Aphrodite), and is often used as a symbol of the Virgin Mary. ‘Rose’ means pink or red in a variety of languages (such as Romance languages, Greek, and Polish). A red rose (often held in a hand) is a symbol of socialism or social democracy: it is used as a symbol by British, Irish, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Brazilian, Dutch and other European labor, socialist or social democratic parties. This originated when the red rose was used as a badge by the marchers in the May 1968 street protests in Paris. The White Rose was a World War II non violent resistance group in Germany. A bouquet of red roses is often used to show love. It is used as a Valentine’s Day gift in many countries. On St George’s Day in Catalonia people offer dark red roses as gifts, especially between lovers. The Virolai, a hymn to the Virgin of Montserrat, one of the black Madonnas of Europe, begins with the words: “Rosa d’abril, Morena de la serra…” (April rose, dusky lady of the mountain chain…). Therefore this virgin is sometimes known as “Rosa d’abril”. The red rose is thus widely accepted as an unofficial symbol of Catalonia.
It’s Winter in Australia, which means the Wattle is beginning to bloom. In my area we’ll soon be surrounded by a sea of bouncing little balls of yellow…... Did you know : / - Wattle is Australia’s official floral emblem, having adorned our Coat Of Arms since 1912. / - there are around 950 different species of Wattle….. which is why I have no clue as to which one this is! / - On 1 September 1910 the Sydney Morning Herald stated: / “To many Australians the wattle stands for home, country, kindred, sunshine and love; every instinct that the heart most deeply enshrines.”........ nice :) [canon 1000D, canon scanner for texture, PS watercolour] WINNER – Wattle challenge – October 2009

And now for something completely different. Just happened to spot this leaf when I was away snapping tropical duckies in an indoor jungle mockup! Photo as original apart from minor levels adjustments in PS. Canon EOS 5D MkII with Canon EF 70-200mm L IS f/4
Shot with Canon EOS 350D with Canon EFS 60mm macro lens. / As is
After a few miss timed shots, I was amazed at how straight forward photographing popping water balloons were. I only got wet once. Although I couldn’t see them, I could hear my neighbours laughing when I spent 30 minutes jumping up and down to get the right body and clothing shape. The rest is lots of fiddling in photoshop. I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / All shots were taken with a Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 57mm, f/16, 1/125 sec, ISO 100. No filters used. Studio Lights set to 1/32. A shower head and a thick skin. © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
