  • I find this simple image reminds me of shoots or bulbs of a plant dividing off from the parent organism. It is another fractal, derived from an algorithm I found when I made a programming error :) One of the reasons I write my own software instead of one of the very powerful and nicely designed fractal programs out there, it’s easier to make mistakes and sometimes I like the mistakes better than the intended result.

  • Blue Thistle…

  • This is the Mountain Spiderwort, Tradescantia subaspera Ker-Gawl. var. montana, . It gets its name because the angular leaf arrangement looks kinda like a squatting spider. This shot was taken on the Balsam Mountain and Heintooga Ridge Road in the Great Smoky Mountains The Cherokee and other Native American tribes used Virginia spiderwort for various food and medicinal purposes. The young leaves were eaten as salad greens or were mixed with other greens and then either fried or boiled until tender. The plant was mashed and rubbed onto insect bites to relieve pain and itching. A paste, made from the mashed roots, was used as a poultice to treat cancer. A tea made from the plant was used as a laxative and to treat stomachaches associated with overeating. Virginia spiderwort was one of the seven ingredients in a tea used to treat “female ailments or rupture.” It was also combined with several other ingredients in a medicine for kidney trouble.

  • A blue thistle.. I think it’s called sea holly. Had some fun with that : )

  • Is it springtime in Ozland yet? It’s a gorgeous autumn in the northeast USA, so i not spring dreaming yet, but i did get some decent magnolia shots this year. I promised a color version of the monochrome, maybe it needs work, or maybe it’s OK or not. You decide for me!

  • Tiny mysterious flower that are in my backyard… Enjoy!

  • Something from the springtime to make me happy… These were little Persian violets that I love, but I couldn’t keep them alive for very long. Enjoy!

  • Last summer there was this crazy metallic green bee hanging around my garden. It was intersting because it hardly moved… I know it wasn’t dead because it walked around the flower it was on… but I went inside to get my extension tubes and a half an hour later it was still there. I don’t know what type of bug/bee it is… but I love it’s coloring! Enjoy!

  • There’s no place like home!! / This was taken of my front deck. We have built an all cedar wood room enclosed by large windows with a sliding door so we can close out the bugs at night. We have candles we light and a small water fountain on a coffee table in there to listed to as well. When we built it I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it and I did. I put two rockers out there for my hubby and I. I also added some of my favorite plants. We sit there and we look at the most beautiful view. We live about 1/2 a mile off of Seneca Lake. We can’t see the lake but we have a view of the other side of the lake and the hills. It is a gorgeous view and we like to sit there in awe. We recently moved to up state NY (11 Sep 01…that right on that day I was moving furniture into my new home). We love the landscapes and scenery here which is what encouraged me to take up photography. / This image is to show you where I de-stress during the summer. It is a bit chilly in the winter but we could put a heater out there to sit too and watch the snow fall. But I use it mainly to store my plants in out of the weather in the winter. :) / It’s a great place to hang your hat and your heart! / Canon EOS 350D XT / / / This image was Featured in “The Sisterhood” Group in Mar 09. Thank you all so much..what an honor. / / / / / / / /
