There were so many beautiful palms in the Kimberley. This was taken at Zebedee Spring’s in El Questro Station. A magical thermal springs of cascades, pools and palms. I could have spent hours here (we did!)
Tropical butterflys, not native to Oregon. These came from Costa Rica. Because they are not native to Oregon, they can’t release them at the end of the display. Because the Portland Zoo is not outfitted to support them year round, they destroy them when the season is over.

This is a ruby red lacewing butterfly, and the way it had it’s proboscis inserted into the flower made me think of that moment when we first get a nice thick milkshake, and we are sucking hard on the straw, fighting against the frozen delight to extract it’s sweet creaminess!

The Glasswing has see-through wings, which makes it hard to see against the background foliage…
I’d like to dedicate this image to my good friend Lora Mae who loves leaves. This leaf from a tropical plant is exceptionally lovely, and I think Lora Mae would like it.
That magnificent butterfly the (Glasswing) ! (-: One of God’s Wonders, lives in South America A butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful. As delicate as finely blown glass, the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glasswing Butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red. with See-through wings, which makes it hard to see against the background foliage…
Pink frangipanis after a Summer storm.
Pouring rain forced us off the beach at Direction Island and into the shelter of the forest. Our senses were buzzing with the sound of rain and waves, the rich saturated colours and the scent of summer rain. / Direction Island is a much-loved anchorage for yachties, cocos locals and visitors, but no one lives there permanently. We shared it with about 10 people on this particular day. For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

/ “Hibiscus Morning” is part of the Tropics Collection...mornings on the island, the Hibiscus opens early…breakfast on the terrace with the warmth of the sun, feels so luxurious with all the blossoms cascading down, in their multitudinous shades of brilliant colour ...
