On DeviantART / Featured on the Homepage 15th April 2009! Firebirds. A fierce, brief indulgence, an inspired glory of exhultation. And then freedom and rising renewed to return to other things. And is the phoenix flying over the sunset, or is it setting a trail of fire and destruction…? Passing by in endless travels, rising newborn from a burning nest, or coming in to land and rest…? How many feathers falling…? ArtRage 2.5 and graphics tablet
Enjoy! _

Seaweed on the beach during low tide at sunset. Consider these photos as companions. :-)
This is four photos that I chose to layer to get a similar effect as “nature under water” and “the nature of things” although I used live nature and threw it on printed images for the others. The amazing gifts of the earth that we live with and we survive because of…......we are all connected. A song called Dancing / by Elisa Toffoli

Powlett River is the spot our illustrous government has told us we will build the southern hemispheres largest desalination plant. There has been no consultation or environmental impact studies just an announcement of what will happen. Needless to say this move to convert a wilderness and pastoral area into a pollution guzzling industrial estate is not being well recieved. To run this $3,200,000,000 plant an additional 1,200,000,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases will be released into the atmosphere each year plus it will pollute the local marine environment at a rate of 7,000litres a second which will obviously alter and possibly (some say definitely) destroy the local marine environment. This will in turn force the Philip Island Seal and Fairy Penguin (Parade) population to look for better feeding grounds risking the $75,000,000 a year that tourists spend visiting these natural attractions. On top of that the site for the plant as you can see is absolutely gorgeous (it’s 200m from where I took this photo). To find out more visit your water your say 100% of profits from this image will go to the, your water your say action group fighting fund (I’ve put the margin up more than usual as the donation thing is kind of pointless unless there’s a bit of money in it). For other shots from this area check out my Bass Coast gallery.
Sunrise over Fes, Morocco. Adhan (Athaan) is the Islamic call to prayer, recited by the muezzin. The root of the word is ʼḏn “to permit”, and another derivative of this word is uḏun, meaning “ear.” This is the minaret of Kairouyine mosque in Fes. The university which is attached, was founded in 859AD and ‘is considered the oldest continuously operating institution of higher learning in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records.’ (Care of Wikipedia) / Adhan I

Sillouette of plant in strong sunset
Although my plan was to take some sunset shots…when I got to my favourite “sunset” spot there were too many distractions and decided to get down on hands and knees and get some shots from different angles. The sky was a gorgeous colour and with the sun behind me it really captured the beauty of these little cotton plants (not even sure what they are called).
