  • OK… I’m coming out of the closet…. I have a confession to make…. I bought a macro lens (Tamron 90mm Macro). As somebody that considers themselves a serious landscape photographer I feel like I have donned an anorak and now I’m a train spotter. I don’t know why, but I have never been overly interested in macro photography before ,but all of a sudden I felt the urge to try my creativity on a much smaller scale. You won’t be seeing any flowers or insects from me, but I will be trying to bring some of the principles of large scale lighting and composition to the macro world. I have to admit though that I feel very clumsy operating in the macro world where depth of field is measured in millimeters when I’m used to sometimes having infinite depth of field. This is the first of a few exercises that I have set myself to try to understand the world of macro.

  • Here is a sunset capture with my two boys. They are very close and are not only brothers but best friends and love doing everything together :o)

  • First macro with my new camera. My remote doesn’t fit on this model so I had a bit of shutter shake & a bit of movement from the air-con (it was 41 degrees here today).

  • Humanities progress has come at a heavy price to the natural environment. Pollution and destruction of natural habitats is slowly being reversed ( as much as possible ) at many locations all over the world, including Newcastle. The edge of the Mangrove Swamp on Ash Island, in Newcastle.
