My little child and I rode the wind and chased the surf, enjoying the quiet company of the large and pretty birds. / / One seagull landed and walked quickly on the damp sand leaving a delicate print. My child ran frolicking passing by … and left his footprints. I paused to contemplate. There was a trail before me, which my child and the seagull had built. / / I admired the message unveiling before my eyes: child and seagull treading together. Child and seagull build their paths on Earth together, parallel, in harmony, not clashing. / / Conviviality, compassion and sharing. Red-legged Frog (Rana aurora) / / “We are blessed by the existence of a conservation area abutting our wooded property. New acquaintances with many a wild neighbour bring thrill to our lives. Fom the largest to the smallest of the forest dwellers, each creature is a jewel and something to be appreciated and respected. White-tail Deer, Red Fox, Coyote, Cottontail, Frog and Toad, myriad birds from the tiny to the raptor to Wild Turkey, Raccoon, Bat, glittering insects and more. / / “Humane solutions seek a peaceful co-existence with those hungry wild dwellers who may, occassionally, turn the lid of the litter bin or, during nest-building season, engange in a noisy pecking then a franctic drilling of our wooden house. / / “Our property certified as a Wildlife Habitat and we are for a safe co-existence with all dwellers who find a home in it or venture through it. / / “Like this pretty frog Rana aurora. Strangely enough, New England, USA, is not its range (Vancouver Island and coastal British Columbia, south along the Pacific coast to northern California; introduced populations in Nevada). I’ve recently spent a bit of time in Antarctica as an Artist-in-Residence which has been a whole lot of fun. But that was only part of my adventure. On my way there and back again I was privileged to spend time in Buenos Aries and I just loved it. I’d go back in a flash to really spend time just absorbing that marvelous amazing and very beautiful city. This is a snapshot of a newspaper stand shot early one morning as I strolled through this teeming city. Its shot with Ilford HP5 on a very battered old SLR and the image really seems to be in harmony with its method of capture. Like a peek backwards to a different time and place. /
