  • WINNER – Gaia – The Living Planet Competition Untouched photograph taken on 35mm. / Best viewed LARGE

  • Mr.Roland died two days after I took that picture,he was a realy good friend and I use to tease him a lot.He was blind but always recognised me because he knew my voice«Ah!....« Gigi de St-Hippolyte»he used to say , holding my hand.He never asked for much only to organised his meal in a way he could easily eat by himself and to give him his chaplet for the ceremony on sundays.A great person , very generous and smiling all the time. The worst part for him was not being able to go to the bathroom ,I think that idea killed him ,he was so proud. He died very peacefully with her daughter and son ,hand in hand .The hand you see in the picture is his son’s .Let’s say that if I wasn’t passionnate about my job I couldn’t do it . / /

  • UNTOUCHED…JUST A YELLOW FILTER ADDED. / This was takeen at Lake L’Achigan,St-Hippolyte,Quebec,Canada / I was comming back from breakfast in the village where I live when I saw this scene ,I stoped ,couldn’t beleive that I wasn’t able to see on the other side of the lake.Heavy fog and soft light gave me the opportunity to do this image,I just love it ,makes me think of an old painting. If you look carefully ,you will see the other side’s shadow. The reflection was great because there were no fog in front of me just on the other side.A very foggy sunrise it was. When I did this shot it thought about «Water world» and how our the planet is beautiful even with a little piece of land. / / / /

  • Everything that is created and every idea evolves from somewhere, and that somewhere doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the final destination, this is just a shirt with a pattern on it, and the pattern can mean a thousand things beyond one point, and not stating something it may or may not mean doesn’t mean that ‘it doesn’t or does mean it’. / . / I was reading yet another another article on some fancy new telescope that assisted us in being able to see stars form in the galaxy around the time of the Big Bang, if there ever was a Big Bang, and I remembered how I used to love this stuff, but now I think it’s time we accepted how our view up has increased our awareness of our own vulnerability and we thought about looking down at least as much. The nearest star (apart from the sun) is about 4.2 light years away, which would take about 90,000 years to get to in Voyager 2. So we’re not getting there anytime soon. At present we appear to be destroying this planet, and aware of it, so really that’s a lot like suicide. Priorities people. The blade is made of an image of the oldest galaxy we’ve found, and I stencilled it so I could use paint drips rather than blood. I’m trying to avoid blood these days. And I’m no astronomer, if my information is incorrect please blame the internet as a whole for lying. And go and ask this man, Mr Dave Pearson who actually does know what he is talking about and to whom I dedicate this tee and my new thoughts about it.

  • The Existential Divide / The more observational of you will remember I put this up awhile ago. And it’s back, slightly different, added text and white not black. I worked on a version with some more emphasis on text woven through it after some people I trust gave some advice. However I went back to a slightly more simplified version as I think that it really shouts on it’s own. That the crisp stark iconic impression of a barcode combined with the ever-so-recognisable, and yet never actually seen in this way, map of the world, cause more avenues of thought than one can reasonably handle without a stiff drink. / But now I’m doing that weird ranting thing about my own work which I normally try and avoid, I like it, and really that’s all that fucking matters. Where’s the whiskey?

  • Just trying new things sometimes gives something realy surprising…..experimenting is so much fun, you’ll never know what you’re gone get…. :)) / The making of that image is so simple, with Picasa I put the two pics together, one of a macro shot of bark without cropping and a portrait of my boyfriend listenning to his friends sitting at the patio table.I darked arround a little and that’s it.I didn’t have to do ajustment for the eye and the ear,it’s like the two pics were meant to fit together… :))) / I sold a matted print on the 29 th of november 08 to an unknown bubbler and that image was edited in the book “Gaïa the living planet” Same processing as Torn / When I did that image I thought about how menkind should be more united with the earth ,to feel renewed by the the contact of nature to become a better individuaL,TO BECOME A FREE THINKER.As long as we are trying to control the earth nothing good will come out of it,I often thought that we should be more like trees who are the lungs of our beautiful planet. / My friend C.C Arshagra wrote a wonderful poem inspired by this image,C.C realy understood what I felt when I named that piece. / That poem is called The Free Thinker would.. /

  • This is a collaborative transatlantic entry between myself and the incredibly talented and totally awesome billyboy in Belgium for RedBubbles Gaia – The Living Planet competition. Now, I’m not a religious person, but I wanted to illustrate by using billyboys Noah’s Ark image that if we dont start taking care of this planet we are living on I truly / believe we will be in for a disaster of biblical proportions. All that is beautiful and wondrous will simply disappear… like so many ephemeral bubbles. We are all interconnected, and we must find our harmony with Gaia, or risk losing it all. Many thanks to billyboy for sharing my vision, and giving so generously of his time, blood, tears and love to bring this vision into glorious life. Concept: Rhana / Background artwork: Billyboy / Art within the bubbles: Rhana / Bubble creation: Billyboy / Design: Rhana / Title Inspiration: Billyboy For those interested in buying the totally hawt tee of this image its now available over at billyboys place. • When I first spotted Jódís Eiríksdóttir’s “A Little Planet” in the buyer’s booth I was mezmerised. I’d never seen anything quite like it. A little further investigation revealed that what I was staring at was a polar panorama. My next thought was “how did she do it?” I’ve managed to hunt down the following resources for those who would like to give it a try but you can find more online by searching “Polar Panorama Tutorial”. Basic ingredients include a digital camera to shoot your panorama and PhotoShop or Gimp to work the magic. If anyone’s had more experience making these then we’d love to see a tutorial or hear your hints and tips! Tutorial: Create Your Own Planets (PhotoShop and Gimp) How to make planet-like panoramas with photoshop Stereographic Projection is a similar technique which involves a bit more effort and a whole lot more maths but if you’re keen to find out more then try these resources: Stereographic Projection (wikipedia) Wee Planets Or you could just make yourself a cuppa, pull up a comfy chair and marvel at these wonderful images … / Lighthouse World by Digerati / Caloundra QLD Polar Panorama by Lars / Little Planet – Julianapark 01 Utrecht by mtths / Small world of Provincetown by Alyeska / Lonely Planet by Peter Marin And there are more over at the Polar Panorama Planets group …
