While driving down country roads one day, I came upon this scene, one you’re unlikely to see in more cosmopolitan neighborhoods where posh, sophisticated folks live. There’s something about country people, people who live in the rural areas, that is quite liberating and freeing. They aren’t worried about what the neighbors will think or if something meets with zoning ordinances or neighborhood codes or political correctness. They’re just themselves and they don’t mind expressing what counts to them, what’s in their hearts and in their souls. On an island in a little pond at the front of their property, the homeowners of this particular property have constructed this scene from Calvary, Jesus Crucified with His mother Mary standing faithfully, lovingly, and sorrowfully at His feet. But if you look a little closer you’ll see another figure—a cormorant which remained on that cross with Jesus for as long as I sat at the roadside looking and taking pictures. As I studied the photo when I returned home, it came to me that I was witnessing the BEST BAIL-OUT PLAN ever devised, the only one that has worked and will ever work. Jesus came to Earth to bail us out of our self-imposed misery and sins, to pull us out of spiritual bankruptcy, and to show us the way to the peacefulness of heaven. Today, we hear lots of talk from politicians, mere men, who think they can bail us out of our woes. I think we’d all be much better off if we looked to the only real leader, our Messiah, who alone can save the day! Seems to me even the cormorant would agree!

The Nine Streets (De Negen Straatjes) Area- Amsterdam A shot taken from the hip that’s a bit soft but the image’s intent outweighs it’s technical quality. Grained up in B&W conversion and burned the edges to provide more intimacy in this composition. Here’s the story ….. / The lad in the middle, wearing the apron, is a waiter at Pompadour restaurant, and he’s on a break. The other lad and the girl are friends of the Pompadour waiter.These two are not boyfriend/girlfriend otherwise they’d be standing close together on one side of the waiter. The two have patronized Pompadour near closing time to meet their waiter friend. The Dutch love to socialize and as the one lad holds his glass and the girl smokes a cigarette, the three are discussing their party plans when the waiter gets off from work. I don’t know this threesome; I never stopped to talk to them nor did I eavesdrop. Every picture tells a story …. / / f/2.8; 1/100sec; ISO 80 (processed as ISO 400); Leica D-Lux 4

Some might say, “It’s only July. What’s the rush?” Well, holidays happen year-round. There are plenty of holy days and Hallmark holidays that are cause for celebration. Whether you celebrate them or avoid them, many people do celebrate popular dates … which means that they’re online and searching for the perfect gift. We’ve just finished Father’s Day, as well as Independence Day, here in the US. My mind has moved on to work that I want ready for October. For example, you might be planning an art series or collection; or wanting to create a holiday specific artwork, design or t-shirt; or maybe you simply want to refresh your website or Bubblesite. I’ll kick off the conversation via the Selling member name shortly, but let’s get started by looking at holiday calendars now.
