viewpoints are like bubbles .. changeable and possibly unique depending on where you are standing. this snapshot was taken by a friend about a decade ago. it’s always been a favourite of mine (great memories) and i’ve decided to add it after i did some manipulating with photoshop. i hope you don’t mind AB :)

A character study for an album cover and inspired by musician PJ Harvey. This sketch carries symbolic elements, / the string and knot on the finger – memory and remembering, / ‘bloody hole in chest where heart ought to be’ – represents outpouring of emotion, this contrasts the serene expression on the girl’s face. Despite the emotional elements in this sketch, I also find it empowering, as the wounds of life only make us stronger. Crystal Thomas

Graphite Pencil on A5 110gsm Cartridge paper So i bought a Graphite pencil the other day… thought i’d just play around for a few mins before i went to bed… several hours later in the wee small hours of the morning this emerged. Based on an Uh Huh Her album cover by my fave female singer… PJ Harvey!!! / The hair is imagined as the background in the photo is all shadowy, the interior of a car i believe! But she did have a similarly messy, flicky sort of hair cut at the time!

My Wonders You look up at me with a toothpaste grin / and I’m wondering / how I ever created something / as perfect as you / with big brown bear eyes / that twinkle / like lights in a winter window. Would it matter if I wanted to hold you for an hour / and not let go / would that be too much? / You run past me / dancing and swirly curls / and i wonder / why I ever deserved / to have someone as gorgeous as you / in my world I wonder / if I ever met you / my heart would still never forget you / because you’re a yearning in my soul. So I hold your hands / and chase you / around the clothesline / along the pavement / across the memories we’ve made / whilst my heart opens up a little bit more / and holds you in it’s smile.
