  • Pisces was created using Photoshop. It combines five of my own photos, two photos that I have permission to use and two drawings. The central figure is made-up of two photos (© Sandra Torregrosa-Allen) of the same person, blended together. The fisheye and mouth are from one photo, cropped. The background texture is made of 4 different layered and manipulated photos (close up images of natural textures). The star pattern was layered onto the image and then several lens flares applied to each star position. © 2008 Limited edition (5) archival prints are available from my web site: DAViD M. ALLeN Comments welcome.

  • This image came to me in a dream and a few months later in a meditation a few months before the year 2000. So I decided I would do a painting of what I had “seen”. It represents or expresses the merging of the finite with the Infinite. / This painting symbolises the emergence of the Goddess or Feminine archetype of mercy, compassion, wisdom and love. It expresses how the world’s known Truths are being made known again. The Feminine archetype which is now encircling our world, fully aligns herself with the masculine order (represented by the vertical columns), bringing balance and harmony, and breathing into it Soul, understanding and unconditional love. The symbology throughout the painting represents the “weaving” together of strength and vulnerability, passion and discipline, pragmatism and intuition, the masculine with the feminine, all conjoining together as part of our essence and expression. The passing of the Age of Pisces is symbolised by the water below the columns. The Age of Aquarius is symbolised by the Cosmos, planets and stars (Higher Mind balanced with Heart) The Temple (which includes the body) is symbolic of Spiritual striving and attainment, it reflects the Universe as a whole.

  • Created for & commissioned by darkestartist as part of my Zodiac series For others in the series / ARIES / PISCES / LEO / LIBRA / CANCER / TAURUS Pisces Febuary 20 to March 20 / Pisces Traits Imaginative and sensitive / Compassionate and kind / Selfless and unworldly / Intuitive and sympathetic On the dark side…. Escapist and idealistic / Secretive and vague / Weak-willed and easily led Pisceans possess a gentle, patient, malleable nature. They have many generous qualities and are friendly, good natured, kind and compassionate, sensitive to the feelings of those around them, and respond with the utmost sympathy and tact to any suffering they encounter. They are deservedly popular with all kinds of people, partly because their easygoing, affectionate, submissive natures offer no threat or challenge to stronger and more exuberant characters. They accept the people around them and the circumstances in which they find themselves rather than trying to adapt them to suit themselves, and they patiently wait for problems to sort themselves out rather than take the initiative in solving them. They are more readily concerned with the problems of others than with their own. Their natures tend to be too otherworldly for the practical purposes of living in this world as it is. They sometimes exist emotionally rather than rationally, instinctively more than intellectually (depending on how they are aspected). They long to be recognized as greatly creative. They also dislike disciple and confinement. The nine-to-five life is not for them. Any rebellion they make against convention is personal, however, as they often times do not have the energy or motivation to battle against the Establishment. Pisceans tend to withdraw into a dream world where their qualities can bring mental satisfaction and sometimes, fame and financial reward for they are extremely gifted artistically. They are also versatile and intuitive, have quick understanding, observe and listen well, and are receptive to new ideas and atmospheres. All these factors can combine to produce remarkable creativity in literature, music and art. They may count among their gifts mediumistic qualities which can give them a feeling that their best work comes from outside themselves, “Whispered beyond the misted curtains, screening this world from that.” Even when they cannot express themselves creatively they have a greater than average instinct for, and love of, beauty in art and nature, a catlike appreciation of luxury and pleasure, and a yearning for new sensations and travel to remote, exotic places. They are never egotistical in their personal relationships and give more than they ask from their friends. They are sexually delicate, in the extreme almost asexual, and most Pisceans would want a relationship in which the partner’s mind and spirit rather than the body resonated with their own. Unfortunately they can be easily misled by a lover who courts them delicately and in marriage makes them unhappy by a coarser sexuality than they expected. They are nevertheless intensely loyal and home-loving and will remain faithful. In their employment they are better working either by themselves or in subordinate positions. Their talents are individual in a commercial business or similar undertaking. They would be afraid to manage more than a small department, worrying always that they would fail in a crisis. They can make fair secretaries and bookkeepers. / Their sympathy equips them for work in charities catering for the needy, as nurses looking after the sick and as veterinary surgeons caring for animals. As librarians or astronomers they can satisfy their mental wanderlust, and their fondness for “faraway places with strange-sounding names” may turn them into sailors or travellers. Many architects and lawyers are Pisceans, and when the creative abilities are combined with gifts of imitation and the ability to enter into the feelings of others, Pisceans find their fulfillment on the stage. Their psychic and spiritual qualities can lead them into careers in the church or as mediums and mystics. They may find an outlet for their creativity as caterers, and are said to make good detectives because they can imagine themselves in the place of criminals and understand how their minds would work. In technical occupations they are well employed in dealing with anaesthetics, fluids, gases and plastics. Because of their lively versatility and inability to concentrate overmuch on any one project, Pisceans often simultaneously follow more than one occupation.

  • I am quite fond of these fish – you just can’t mess up painting a koi :) I had just finished my initial drawing and was about to start painting – as always, I had my coffee cup right next to my water cup that I use for dipping my paintbrush into – wouldn’t you know it, I dipped my paintbrush right into the coffee. I realized it immediately, and didn’t actually paint with the coffee :) but it did set my mind adrift as to the possibilities of different color relationships for these fish – why let reality be your guide? Enjoy!

  • Ascension is about love and its power. Anahata is the chakra located in the heart region. iI has 12 petals and it is connected to the capacity of loving deeply and also to the feelings of compassion and empathy. It is generally depicted in the color green, but in my mind it appeared in luminous yellow with hints of red. It is through the anahata chakra that we can contact universal love. It is the main point of contact to the so-called “inner Christ” and the upper planes. Other symbols I used to represent the same concept are the water, running upward in a straight blue stripe across the picture, and the fish. The fish is connected to the Pisces sign and also to the primitive Christianity message. Both symbols are related to universal love and compassion. The skull means that loves transcends even death, and leads to a deep transformation. It also has the meaning of the XIII arcane, Death – things that die to give place to other ones, a deeply alchemical experience. The upper figure is representative of a state of ecstasy and bliss conduced by deeply spiritual experiences. When we are able to achieve a full state of love, even for brief moments, we feel like we are connected to something bigger and higher. Experiencing love is also a totally libertarian thing, which I wanted to show through the hawk with open wings emerging from all the violet at the top. It’s only through love that we can transcend our material condition and achieve perfect happiness and fulfillment.

  • This was done in Apophysis and finished in Photoshop. March is Pisces month … I wanted to do the fish in apophysis hope all who are Pices enjoy

  • Rollerball on copier paper. This is part of a series. Featured in Works on Paper. / Featured in Art and Stories made for Children. / Tee featured in WTF are you wearing. Pisces swims in the BIG pond – the universal God/Goddess pond of oneness. Pisces’ home territory is the Cosmos and the Infinite. Most of us are accustomed to navigating our life in our little pond, as defined by our human identity, our personal circumstances and the physical world. We are unaware of realities that might exist beyond the thoughts of our rational mind, the sensations of our physical bodies and our earthly environment. We don’t stray beyond what we know for various reasons – (1) We are content. (Or we think or hope we are.) We like the security and our sense of mastery in our limited world. (2) We are afraid. We are preoccupied with making our life work and are intimidated by the unknown and what we can’t control. Or (3) We aren’t interested. Anything beyond what we can know with our five senses does not compute as a realistic or useful option to be explored. But the Pisces archetype is different. Pisces isn’t motivated by the goal of obtaining security in known territory. Pisces feels at home in the nebulous world of non-physical reality and the Divine Ocean. The problem with our little pond is that underneath the trappings of false security, we live in fear of the unknown. We feel alone and abandoned. We suffer from the indefinable ennui of apparent separation from Source/Spirit that haunts our psyche. Pisces holds the key to our existential issues of separation, fear, abandonment, insecurity and lack of faith and trust. - Taken from the current issue of The New Millennium Being, Copyright 1999 – 2008 Guru Rattana, Ph.D. - I took the liberty of referencing two of my favourite Escher pieces for this. /

  • Pisces, mystical and magical, is the sign of rebirth, eternity and reincarnation. Pisceans are ruled by Neptune, the planet of mystery and this sense of the other-worldliness, can dominate their thinking. They are artistic and creative, and love to dream. They are empathic, kind and compassionate, but their need to swim in both directions at once can mean that the sometimes loose their way. Here, Leo, the Sea Lion, keeps the girls quite safe as they travel on their adventures. Featured in Jen&Erics Eyes Music – ‘Take Me To The Water’ Nina Simone / This is best viewed larger See below for details of how this image was created. / MCM/CPH3W_5S3KC_CMNNM —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / This is the sixth image in my zodiac series, the ot / / hers are.. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / How this image was created…. I first created several layers of different colours of blues and greens, blended these togetherl and applied gradients. I then overlaid these with the underwater rocks. The mermaids were morphed from the upper part of the girls bodies, with fish tails. Several layers were created for these, and blurred and overlaid to give the effect of movement. The sea lioness was morphed from a lioness’ head with a sea lion’s body and watery effects subsequently painted. The fish, the wreck and the mystical sea horses and sea dragon were added. For the bubbles, I created a bubble brush and applied using different opacities. The rays of sunlight light were added later and colour merged into the whole. Seaweed and grasses were painted, and finally watery light streams were painted over the whole scene To create the impression of depth and distance, I applied several layers of textures, and I was particularly pleased with the final feeling of depth that emerged. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / I am indebted to the artists below who so generously make their stock available… / Underwater Rocks / Mermaid Body1 / Mermaid Body2 / Mermaid Tails / Lioness Head / Sealion Body / Sea horse / Sea Horse 2 / Sea Dragon

  • ...the twelth sign of the Zodiac’...Your element: Water / Your ruling planets: Neptune / Symbol: The Fish / Your stone: Bloodstone / Life Pursuit: To avoid feeling alone and instead feel connected to others and the world at large / Vibration: Erratic Energy levels / Pisces Secret Desire: To live their dreams and turn fantasies into realities.Pisces / The Sun is in Pisces between about 19th February and 20th March. / Fish swim in the wide ocean, and if your Sun is in Pisces, you love to lose yourself in the world of dreams and imagination. Super-sensitive yourself, you are tuned in to the needs of all around you, and your heart goes out to anyone in trouble. You’re a natural actor, but from a love of playing the part rather than a thirst for the limelight. Changeable and sometimes moody, you can be a sucker for a hard luck story, and you’re not only easily deceived but you can deceive yourself. You are more likely to sacrifice yourself for others than any other sign. / Poet, musician or artist, if you have Pisces as your Rising Sign you will need some sort of outlet for your creativity. People may find you enchantingly mysterious, and you can escape into a world of your own when things get tough. You gain insight through your hunches and intuition rather than logic, may even be psychic, and so long as you don’t drift aimlessly and let others take advantage of you, you might make a great contribution to helping or rescuing other people. / ..
