The Icelandic Harvester. / / When I came across this old vessel moored to the pier my imagination started running wild with scenarios of what life aboard this wooden vessel would have been like. I could almost feel the sineous texture of the ropes as they hung there coated in the ice cold saltwater of the frigid North Atlantic Ocean. I could nearly hear the calls of the sailors as they shouted commands back and forth across her weather beaten decks as the waves crashed down upon her on any one of her numerous voyages. What sights must have been seen as sailors of old lined the rails to peer down at the mysteries of the sea. How many men were lost at sea and how many made it home with wild stories of his adventure aboard the Icelandic Harvester. / / Shot with a Canon 400D and processed in Lightroom 2. / / NautilusBlue / / nominated this image to be showcased in the group Pay It Forward and this is what she had to say… / / Ice Breaker / by Kevin Kroeker / I think it is an outstanding image with great composition ( great leading lines) with lots of drama and the colours are amazing . It shows us the harshness of the climate. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

The Flat Earth Society / “The facts are simple,” says Charles K. Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society. “The earth is flat.” He believes that the main purpose of the space program is to prop up a dying myth—the myth that the earth is a globe. “Nobody knows anything about the true shape of the world,” he contends. The sun and moon, in the Johnson version, are only about 32 miles in diameter. They circle above the earth in the vicinity of the equator, and their apparent rising and setting are tricks of perspective, like railroad tracks that appear to meet in the distance. The moon shines by its own light and is not eclipsed by the earth. Rather, lunar eclipses are caused by an unseen dark body occasionally passing in front of the moon. Johnson’s beliefs are firmly grounded in the Bible.
In modern English, the term ghost ship has come to stand for at least one of three separate definitions, all of which involving unexplained circumstances. Historically, the term has been used to refer to reported sightings of apparitions over water that have appeared in the form of maritime sailing ships, often after having previously been known to have sunk, or to derelict vessels found floating with no crew. In fiction, ghost ships have often been vessels crewed by some manner of spectral beings. Full Moons are traditionally associated with temporal insomnia, insanity and various magical phenomena such as lycanthropy. Psychologists, however, have found that there is no strong evidence for effects on human behavior around the time of a full moon. They find that studies are generally not consistent, with some showing a positive effect and others showing a negative effect (hence the terms lunacy and lunatic) Many neopagans hold a monthly ritual called an Esbat at each full moon, while some people practicing traditional Chinese religions prepare their ritual offerings to their ancestors and deities on every full and new moon
:) Make a statement. And wear this T-shirt as you do. Robots and pirates, blended to perfection. jL
Just a design I did for class, I kinda liked it. / So here it is.
jL So what do you associate the skull and crossbones with? Piracy? Death? Pillaging? Well, why do you try to think happy thoughts next time, huh? Just get this shirt and spread the pirate lovin’. jL

So impressed with the art on the homepage, I decided to do a photomontage of one of these beautiful Chinese Junks… Hope you like it.. sxc.hu, my own photos and textures…. Slow Boat to China I’d like to get you / On a slow boat to China, / All to myself alone. / To get you and keep you in my arms evermore, / Leave all your lovers / Weeping on the faraway shore. / Out on the briny / With the moon big and shinny, / Melting your heart of stone. / Darling, I’d love to get you / On a slow boat to China, / All to myself alone.
I was going for a kind of kiddish vibe to the coloring.

I think ever since him and I met and started talking, I always thought to myself either “Dude, this guy would be an awesome dad” or “I want to be like him when I grow up.” He’s got a good heart, and the Universe often seems to just be after him… and that sucks. Tryin to keep a brotha DOWN! But yes. I’d have his back if he needed help, cause a big guy with a big heart who gets flooded with a ton of crap, needs a break every now and again with the help of his friends. More recently, he’s done something that really only further inspired me, and amplified my want to do this picture, as it felt so appropriate. Belic has amazing stregnth and determination when it comes to helping others, who’s not afraid to be himself or do what he thinks is right no matter how hard it is for him. Ya sounds a little cheesy, but ya know what? I more than respect that about him, I frickn love that about him. I look up to him in that aspect. :) I’ve had this idea stuck in my head for months, of Belic about to beat the shit out of a great white shark with dynamite and a pic axe. It’s a metaphor, to where the pic-axe represents effort, and the shark represents troubles. The dynamite doesn’t represent anything, it’s just dynamite to blow shit up. Pushed this thing out as soon as my schedule freed up, and got it done pretty quick. I experimented with a few things here, like the style for one. It’s a bit on the comic/illustrative side with some exaggerated lines. I was going for a little bit of dynamics and I tried to limit my colors, and I was also trying to work within a perfect-square composition. This entire style was inspired by an awesome artist, named Jared Moratis (Pop Monkey)... It’s very ‘skater-ish’ with the almost obnoxiously saturated colors and outlines. Love the style. Artfulreggie and IG_Kirk helped me out with this one with brainstorming. :)
