Aachen Germany. OM-3. 21mm. Ilford 3200 film. 1/3/2001 this was a very difficult shot as it was dusk and i was without a tripod. a flash would have bounced off the glass. super high speed film was my only option. the grain is natural for this speed film. I wanted DOF to get the inside of the shop as well as the man in the window. not the best technically, but one of my favorites.
An illustration for the well-known story of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, where she meets Mister Caterpillar. Who persists in asking her: “Who are you?” Done with oil pastel on cardboard, details added in with a normal pencil.

MANY THANKS for your votes, placing this photo as the winner in the Film Photography “People” Challenge in October 2009, and I’m honoured to be featured by the Film Photography Group as well! This photo is of a British Railways Train Guard with his tobacco pipe, checking the railway platform from his Guard’s Van window. Taken in September 1972 on Ilford FP4 film, in my ergonomically all-time favourite camera, my Asahi Pentax S1a with a Takumar F/2.8 lens. Sadly there are still a number of “old film” artifacts evident in the picture in spite of many hours of careful recovery in Photoshop! This explains why I’ve limited the choice of printed medium to cards and canvas. After some additional research by my son, I’m now sure that the railway station is Crewe Station (Lancashire), and that the train is one belonging to London Midland Scottish (LMS), not London Midland Region (LMR) as I’d entered into the photo’s IPTC Caption field. Here’s a close-up of the Guardsman’s badge (or ‘button’), which (provided that it isn’t just a blood-donor’s badge or similar!) might help some UK railway enthusiast discover a bit more about this chap, and the railway network that he worked on. / / This is a 100% crop from the film-scan, with some minor contrast adjustments and with no digital noise reduction. / .

This is not a halfpipe Toutes mes excuses à René Magritte, ses enfants et les enfants de ses enfants…
This is a tree made up of pipes, when the wind blows it creates the most unusual noise. The Singing Ringing Tree is one of Lancashire’s Panopticans set up high on the hills.
This is a part of the Sibelius monument in Helsinki, I got flat on my back under the monument and shot it straight to the sky :) The monument is an abstract church organ. / For more info just google Sibelius Monument
The Black King-Bishop’s Pawn / Artist: Simon Sherry / Biography: Danny The right side of the Shaman’s brain, the masculine, is represented by things more natural and organic. In any effective army, the most efficient use of resources will always provide a distinct advantage. Knowing this, the King’s Shaman often recycles a variety of waste products including Bullrock droppings and the remains of the vanquished, and sends them back into the battlefield in a multitude of forms. While on the whole less effective on the battlefield due to their lumbering pace and ramshackle physiology, these muck golems serve a purpose both as expendable cannon fodder and biological weapon. More often than not, those who have met their end while fighting the Shaman’s foot-soldiers are smothered and engulfed as opposed to being beaten in combat. :

The Black Queen’s Bishop (The Shaman) / Artist: Simon Sherry / Biography: Danny Descendants of an ancient race, the Shaman have links to the old ways, ways observed before man was the dominant species of the world. The shaman is spiritual overlord of the army and is answerable only to the king. Legend has it the ancestors of the king tricked the shaman – even then a dying breed- to serve him and in doing so bound their loyalty to all kings that followed for all time. / Shaman have become an intricate link in the chain that have evolved into the Armies of the Black Spear and it’s development into the warrior nation it has now become. The Shaman through majik and selective breeding have created the Black Knights, Monoliths, Basilisk and Pawn Spawn that take to the battlefield. The Shaman does not regret or harbor resentment for things past and is totally loyal to the king and the betterment of the Army of the Black Spear. The Shaman splits itself into two distinct personalities when it enters the battle controlling each body with either side of its brain. Left for Queen – Right for King. Read more of the Shaman here
