  • The painting is based on a photo I took on Dartmoor a few years ago. The light was fantastic and I’ve expanded on that to create this vibrant landscape.

  • Just a duo – tone with the slightest hint of color..The sand ripples is what does it for me on this shot, oh – and the swirly cloud..

  • The Pinnacles are located about 2 1/2 hours drive north from my house. I had a great time laying all over the dirt getting some awsome shots (in my opinion) today! Hope you like them :) For more information on the history please check out the link to Wikipedia Another shot…

  • This is the sunset at Nambung National Park located about 245 km drive north from Perth, Western Australia. I am not sure what has caused this sky colour. Maybe sand, it was very windy day. / Captured with Nikon D300 and 18 – 200 Nikkor VR lens Featured in Natural Color and Light group 25/01/2009 / Featured in Australian Bush and Rainforest group 26/01/2009 / Featured in Your Magic Place group 28/02/2009 / Featured in WA Red Bubble Mk II group 28/05/2009 / Featured in Polish Place group 31/05/2009 / Featured in Sensational Sun group 13/09/2009 / Featured in The Beauty of Nature group 29/11/2009 / Featured in Around the World group 30/11/2009

  • Took this on my Pinnacles sunset shoot with Tony Middleton with my new 5DmkII last week. I must say this camera has totally transformed the way I shoot. When I shot with Velvia I’d rarely shoot more than 36 shots a day. On this shoot with digital I shot 102 shots in around an hour. I bracket everything (for a few shots I took 6 brackets) and of those shots I’m happy with at least one of each composition set I took. Wonderful to just shoot each scene with different lenses, filters and compositions to see what works best without worrying about the expense and with the ability to check you’ve got it or not and bracket a bit further afield if necessary. Strangely satisfying to flow so quickly from one viewpoint to the next too. With this shot it was just walking from one spot to the next and thought a boulder shot would be good, now are there any that stand out, and literally as the thought occurs I see these little beauties which as you can see were quite unique in this boulder strewn landscape. After a bit of tripod fun on the boulders this was the result. Would be interesting to take this one again under different lighting conditions but this one works for me anyway. • I usually try to avoid mass uploads on the one location at the one time but this little shoot was so amazing that I can’t help but upload another one. The Pinnacles, Phillip Island. Camera: Canon EOS 5D mkII / Lens: EF 16-35mm f/2.8 II @ 16mm / Filter: Circular Polariser / ISO: 100 / Shutter Speed: 15 sec / Aperture: f/22 / WB: Auto For other shots from this area check out my Bass Coast gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society

  • Taken at The Pinnacles @ Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia. I loved how the colour of this rock was different to all those around it. I took many shots of the one rock but think I liked this one the best. I really loved this place and cannot wait to get myself back there, there’s so many different angles this place can be captured from and I want to find them all! Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens. 4 seconds @ f14, ISO 100. One of the photos in my Phillip Island series, please click here to see the rest of my images in the series

  • The Pinnacles Desert, Western Australia, early morning, July 2009 The first shot from my short trip around mid-north-west of Western Australia. I made to The Pinnacles just by the sunrise, was literally racing the sun to get there! The roads in WA are really great, can’t compare to NSW. I guess we need to thank the mining boom for this great road system. Anyway, as soon as I get there, I see this beautiful yellow sandstone rocks sticking from the ground, and guess what? I was chasing the sunrise, and so was the rain! So had to run to the car and grab an umbrella, and after few minutes the sun was gone. I should have more photos of that rainbow in RAW format I hope, so I can check them when I get home in 3 days. And now I am sitting in a hotel in Kalbarri – great little town about 700 km North from Perth, there is a band playing next door, and probably for that reason my wireless internet keeps dropping out. It timed out few times, so I reduced the file size. An plus it is Vodafone which is crap in rural areas. Thank you for looking, Canon 5D / Canon EF 24-105 IS USM Lens / FL:24mm / ISO:50 / Av:8 / AT:1/5

  • A flower blooms in the Pinnacles Desert, Nambung National Park, Western Australia

  • Worth clicking Large to see all the stars. 30 second exposure of a moving cloudbank backlit by the moon between two pinnacles in the Gardens of Stone National Park (isn’t that the coolest name for a NP?). Taken around midnight. First new landscape pic for a while. A friend invited me to another friend’s birthday in this amazing location. I’ve never been to this area on the other side of the Blue Mountains and was just gobsmacked as we drove down this valley with these majestic mountains rising on either side. I spotted this vantage point on the way in and as the party wore on snuck away to get some shots and was presented with this vista as I rolled up in the car. Managed to get about 15 mins in before it started to sleet. Man it was freezing with the wind coming off the late snow. The party was in an old art deco hotel being lovingly restored by this young couple and their six(!) children (oldest 11!!) Can’t believe the energy some people have or their vision. This hotel is located in a near-deserted old shale mining town at the end of a valley you can only access by dirt road about 4 hours from Sydney. It was all quite surreal – particularly when some of the girls at the party heard I was a photographer and decided they wanted to do a Norman Lindsay style “bacchanalia” photoshoot at the end of the night – just hilarious but OMG working with drunk models is hard work – “sit still”, “stop giggling” – never again! Still I managed to do both my favourite styles of photography in one night so it’s churlish to complain. Canon 1Ds Mk III / Tv: 30 secs / Av: f/3.2 / ISO: 1600
