The Sydney Royal Easter show is a chance for the country to come to town and show the city people what country life is all about. Different competitions, events and showcases are run during the show. Here we have a little piglet taking timeout from the fast pace of the show….amazing that he can sleep as thousands of people try and squeeze through to get a glimpse of all the different animals…. Photo Taken: 11-Apr-2006 / Time: 12pm / Conditions: Hall, luckily this little fella was right next to a huge wide door with naural light coming in.

Sydney has many attractions but, I’m sure, the two most well known are the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Quite a few years back now, I got up very early one morning, braved the cold, setup the camera and took this image. I really like the glow from the light just before the sun came up. Scan from Fujichrome. Have sold as a laminated print to someone on RB. Thank you whoever purchased !

I bought some Singh Ray filters mid November. I did not get a chance to try them out until after Xmas – says a lot about the mad rush leading up to this period of the year. After using them I am in awe as to how effective they are. Probably the last of the Opera House shots I’m going to be uploading for a while. This was taken a few minutes after House of Golden Light and just a bit further on towards the Harbour Bridge. There are often lovely sailing boats and things moored down past the Customs House and sometimes you can just be lucky with the light and the framing. In another small while all the light will be drained from this sky and the night lights will come on giving the whole area a completely different look again.
Nope, not a scuba shot. Was at the Sydney Aquarium in Darling Harbour and caught these guys thru the glass. Had to tweak it a little afterwards to blacken up the background… This image was displayed at the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland for their ‘We Are All Photographer’s Now!’ exhibition in 2007
found a whole untouched box of slides today….. amazing and the first one out was the missing companion image to and at the end of the day .... makes a change from the deep brooding IR landscapes I’ve been putting up …... I’m pretty sure most people will figure out were this was taken and the old boat and the new boat framing this wonderful building are an interesting juxtaposition that speak about where we Australians have come from and were we are now…..... enjoy
I am not sure what this tree is called, but it was absolutely laden with these large blooms. I have taken out the background, blended in a textured layer, and outlined and desaturated the flowers to give it an illustrative, vintage look. / Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM / /

MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER / 190 Comments,125 Favourites, 2956 Views / Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.

I was supposed to be cleaning up my external hard drive but I kept coming up with forgotten images which were ‘too good’ to trash! So here’s one from my Canon G7 dollied up to make a simple but true statement.
