Skipping Girl is a neon sign in Melbourne that is a bit of an icon. The company may have moved on but the sign was restored but it doesn’t actually work anymore. I thought I would take a picture of it with my new little P & S Nikon and then add the neon back. This is part of a series of different takes on Skipping Girl which is a bit pop artish and just fun to make.

Original is 11”x14” acrylic on canvas. This piece was first drawn when I was working with K-6 students at a school in Florida. I had drawn the girl and was just about to put fire coming out of the rocket, when Lauren, a 4th grader said, “Hey, what about bubbles?” Her idea was great, and is now a painting.
