I wandered down a snow-covered country road this morning and found some beautifully covered pine trees and an old split rail fence. The old, dirt back roads harbor some peaceful and serene scenery that one seldom sees… /
With rivers here frozen over from our long cold spell it creates lots of photo opportunities if one just looks down. Pine needles frozen into the ice along the Yakima River
A busy Christmas Reindeer, in festive holiday garb, stops briefly in the winter landscape as if to say “Happy Holidays” to everyone. Rendered in realistic pen-and-ink with splashes of color. I’ve also made this image available as a T-shirt – although this time of year long sleeves are probably more appropriate! / / This image is also available on an array of other products at my CafePress shop (but the cards here are much nicer!)
Inspired by Japanese kimono designs, this t shirt features the 3 Friends of Winter – plum, bamboo, and pine – symbolizing longevity and the ability to thrive under harsh conditions. Related Items From Our Other Shops: / (Click on Image to Choose Your Shirt Style and Customize Your Own)

Daisy Mae’s Winter Wonderland / by / Leena Hedman
I took this on the way home after a Christmas Concert by the Big Rock Singers and just had to share it right away. We have had a dump of six to eight inches of heavy wet snow lasting all day, causing me to shovel several driveways several times today. However, the absolute beauty of freshly fallen snow mixed with blue Christmas lights makes up for any of the day’s toils. Hope you like it.
Wow, it was a wonderful winter wonderland today, over 8 inches actually. This is the scene in my front garden, that lamp sticks up out of a huge Juniper bush I’ve got growing there, but as you can see it’s just covered in snow. ;-) I love winter. This is a 3 layer HDR with added moon. The light is natural, I just switched on the garden lamp prior to shooting the photo. Snow was falling as I shot this and some other ones like it, I held a brolly over my camera and tripod! / Woohoo…winter is here!!
Taken “à contre jour”....I liked the smooth lines made by the sun…St-Hippolyte,Quebec,Canada. / Nikon D200 / f 2.8 / iso 100 /
There was an ice storm a few weeks ago that covered all the trees in icy rain drops. The next day the pine tree in my backyard looked magical when the sun light it the drops… Shot in tungsten with white balance adjustments in Lightroom. Enjoy!
19×25 pastel on Sennelier La Carte paper FEATURED IN C.O.R.E., FRIENDS OF RED BUBBLE, FIRST THINGS, THE PATCHWORK, AND THE SISTERHOOD / She has been sitting on my easel for the longest time. I finally got inspired to finish her. I made her a lot bigger than the others in the series, so that should appease her for me taking so long on her. / She is the Spirit of the North Wind. It is the wind of Winter and of death, but also of rebirth. She gives us the wisdom to overcome death and to know it is not the end. We must walk through the Northern gate at the end of this life and she will be the one to usher us through. Listen to cold Winter wind, and let her help you release your fears into the darkness of the night. Also from the Series
Two pinecones on christmas green brunch in the forest / Nikon D60
a male northern cardinal braves a snow strom in a nearby pine tree, waiting his turn at the sunflower seeds. Cardinals are hearty birds, able to withstand the cold northern winters, but don’t forget them during these hard times. They need a food supply and a source of water to remain healthy. Feeding them during the winter months will ensure their presence in your back yard come next spring!
