Acrylic painting. This painting was inspired by the lake that we visit in Northern California. The trees are so thick and there are layers and layers. I would love to work on more like this and get a better feel for the trees, but for now I enjoyed finding a way to show the beautiful pines as the caught a Moment of Sun. / / /

There was an ice storm a few weeks ago that covered all the trees in icy rain drops. The next day the pine tree in my backyard looked magical when the sun light it the drops… Shot in tungsten with white balance adjustments in Lightroom. Enjoy!

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Ruins of a Huon Pine Barge ============================================== / Featured in the Top 10 of Rusty_Crusty_and_Falling_to_Bits / Challenge Nautical_relics ============================================== / The discovery of rich deposits of copper at Mt Lyell led to the establishment of the Mt Lyell Mining Company in 1892. / Teepookana was situated at the highest navigable point of the river, where the township acted as a port facility for the Mt Lyell Mining and Railway Company, and home to about 200 people, mostly railway workers. / Two steamers, the “Pioneer” and “Eagle”, and over a dozen barges, or “lighters”, plied the King River, carrying coal, passengers, goods and mail for shipment by rail to the copper mines, and copper for shipment from the Strahan port facilities. / Today, the ruins of two Huon pine “lighters” can be seen at the Fishermens Wharf, Strahan.
