The Colonial Building. Military Road, St. John’s, Newfoundland. / This is literally a stones throw from my apartment. I live in such a scenic area! The Colonial Building was the seat of the Newfoundland government and the House of Assembly from January 28, 1850 to July 28, 1959 and in 1974 declared a Provincial Historic Site. / / ..................................... / Click here to add me to your watch list. / .....................................
A wonderful old pillar box in the medieval city of Bruges, Belgium /
I decided to put together my three art works called “A Dream of Heaven” through photoshop. This is the three I made for my mother before she passed away with the help of my college friends who made it possible to get through it all with their support. Thank you to all of you, you know who you are :) xxoo
I think this room will have been the dining room due to these large pillars, the view out of the window and the ornate ceiling you will see in a later shot. Combine these with the fact it is directly over the basement level kitchen and it makes it a perfect candidate for the dinging room, it would have certainly have been big enough before it was sectioned into smaller rooms with partition walls when it was a hospital.

A side view of Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier at dusk and at low tide, showing the symmetry of the building, the pier’s pillars and some parked cars, with the glow of the setting sun reflected in the wet sand. I took this photo in February 2008 prior to the July 2008 fire. The burnt-out remains of this fine old pier are already being cleared away and the plans for our new pier have been approved. The pillars and supports are made from tough and sturdy cast-iron so they survived the fire with almost no damage. Weston-super-Mare is in the lovely county of North Somerset in the South West of England. / . / Huge thanks to the Piers And Jetties Group and to the Treasured UK Structures Group for featuring this photograph / .

perhaps a modern adaption of the ‘Lot’s wife’ theme.. the wife who turned into pillar of salt when she disobeyed god’s warning and looked back to see the destruction of sodom.

Image taken in one of the many cave systems located in the Naracoorte area in the south east of South Australia. This area is a part of the limestone coast and was once a pert of the seabed. / Camera used is the Olympus E-520DSLR with a 40-150mm lens, no flash, just the lighting available from small spotlights. Naracoorte Caves National Park covers approximately 600 hectares (about 2,520 acres) of limestone ranges. / The Naracoorte Cave National Park was inscribed onto the World Heritage List in 1994 as a serial nomination of the Riversleigh Section of the Lawn Hill National Park, Queensland to form the ‘Australian Fossil Mammal Sites. (Riversleigh/Naracoorte) World Heritage Area. / Inscription on the World Heritage List recognises the value of the vertebrate fossil material, dating back perhaps 500,000 years. / The bones of extinct megafauna such as Thylacoleo, Dipotodon, Zygomaturus and Sthenurine Kangaroos have been found within the caves and represent the most complete fossil record we have of this period. /
