The Sydney Royal Easter show is a chance for the country to come to town and show the city people what country life is all about. Different competitions, events and showcases are run during the show. Here we have a little piglet taking timeout from the fast pace of the show….amazing that he can sleep as thousands of people try and squeeze through to get a glimpse of all the different animals…. Photo Taken: 11-Apr-2006 / Time: 12pm / Conditions: Hall, luckily this little fella was right next to a huge wide door with naural light coming in.

A large percentage of the world’s honeybees have been MIA lately. Nobody knows for sure what the causes are, and we are just beginning to grasp what the effects in long term may be, but I am absolutely certain of one thing – this can’t be good news for Winnie The Pooh! This was my first project for my Digital Illustration class with David Hylton. Pen & Ink drawing, scanned into Photoshop, then colored in using different textures from photographs. Turned out to be a pretty big hit among my peers :)

This week, we asked PigleT to do the featured page. This what he had to say about his choices of Recent and Favorited work: Wow, selecting a mere 10 photos here has been a learning exercise. My normal photographic tastes fall into three categories: nature and landscapes (helps to be based in Scotland!), creative abstracts, and photos with implicit pointed political messages; sometimes a combination of these is possible. I respond most to harmoniously balanced compositions and things that make me think. / That said, the theme I’ve chosen for these is mostly light itself: both as revealed in all its glory, and in more subtle applications befitting the little electro-magnetic oscillations by which we see. Herewith: Writting: Crows for being a simple haiku, yet conjuring up great imagery From recent additions: Rose: for the high-key approach and angled light on a simple rose Steam for the atmospheric light in steam Taking Flight for the patterns of light on soft flowers Green for soft light working with the soft colours and water droplets St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the use of light with architecture Fire Sky for the eye’s reaction to nature’s reds and orange shades From my favorites: Blending Light for its subtle illumination and gentle tones Earth’s Shadow for practical optics on the scale of the solar system, yet so gentle you’d almost miss it if you didn’t know Lightning over Jackson for a dramatic reminder of the energy involved in nature’s light Tilt for the patterns light forms, revealing textures in objects around us day by day hedgehog a bonus oddball choice because it’s a beautiful, if odd-ball, creature. I’m unashamedly crazy about hedgehogs!

  • Edit a work from the public view

Last week PigleT and me were chatting about how annoying it is that you can’t edit a work on RedBubble from the public view of the work. Diving into your art or clothing list to find the work, or hacking on its URL, can be a real pain. I then got to thinking that a Greasemonkey script could be the way to go, although this would have the downside that it would only work with Firefox (not that I see that as a downside). PigleT then had the cracking idea of using a bookmarklet. Smart idea because it would work with most browsers. And then we did the usual thing and let the good idea stay just like that: a good idea. And then I saw this thread and that got us going again. I tried one way (and failed) and PigleT tried another and it worked, but only for art. I then hacked it a little and made it work with art, clothing, journals and writing. The end result can be found over here. And it works. And works well. And solves a really annoying problem. There’s a couple of issues, not least of which is the fact that any number of strange things could happen if you used the bookmarklet while viewing something other than a public view of one of your works. Think of this as a feature rather than a bug. Edit: If you’re a Firefox user, and you have Greasemonkey installed (or are happy to), then this approach might be more to your taste.

After messing with yesterday’s edit facility hack I got to thinking that it would be fun to create a Greasemonkey script anyway. So I did This is different from the bookmarklet approach in that it adds the edit facility into the page of the work, like this:
