Dalia was the omniscient goddess of childbirth and destiny. She was associated with various animals like ducklings, swans, cuckoos, hawks, and yearlings. She was a spinner, weaver, and seamstress. She was also believed to cut off the cloth of life. The symbol of Laima or Dalia is a distaff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalia_(mythology)
