Landing in Naples I was confronted by this vision of a blend of classical hillside with majestic buildings on top and the contrast of high density apartments and buildings, which are made up of little graphic squares upon graphic squares and plain concrete with minimal window frames. This just caught my eye – and I was fascinated with this mixture of styles just sitting there in the one place!
Lake Bohinj, Slovenia. I shouldn’t really advertise it because one of the delights of this place is that it’s not too crowded… Available for sale as: / Laminated Prints, Cards, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

I love photographing in bad weather, there is just something about the drama of it all that amazes me, and this was of no exception. Garden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs is the location, a place which, is simply magical and unlike anywhere else on Earth…the light here is the best I have ever seen, and even when there is none, it still holds it own. Captured this past early spring, where at the higher elevations the clouds brought snow, but where I was at, it was rain. Processed in HDR with final output through PS. / Thoughts welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! I have always these flowers, and I love em even more when the sun hits them at just that right moment and really makes them pop. Hope you all enjoy this one, it is a personal favorite of mine John
Lookout Mountain outside of Golden Colorado at Sunrise….quite an amazing morning! Thoughts most welcomed!
I was fortunate enough to travel to Italy when I was 19, this was taken as just a naive snap happy photo on my dodgy old-school camera and I’ve cleaned it up and added some oomph in photoshop. (It’s better if you click on the image to see a larger view)
A Conversation With the Clouds Captured at an elevation of 11,990 ft (3,655 m), standing atop Loveland Pass is like being able to touch heaven and the clouds. When I captured this, the slight hint of the scent of snow was in the air, and conditions up here can change literally by the second. It is right along the Continental Divide, and the views from up here are simply paradise! Processed in HDR and captured on my Minolta 5D using a Minolta 18-200 DT Lens and a Hoya Polarizer http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/5778657
A Morning Stroll At the Lake Every now and then we almost miss a shot, and luckily this time I happened to turn around as I was walking back to my car from shooting the sunrise and had this scene greet me. Captured at Cherry Creek State Park outside of Denver, Colorado, the light seemed to almost dance among the trees. Processed in HDR
Featured in Live, Love, Dream 5th Nov, 2008. / This is a beautiful thatched pub/restaurant, The Brace of Pheasants in Plush, Dorset. They have a wonderful menu and I was about to eat there, but, unfortunately, arrived at 15:05 and the kitchens closed at 15:00. Oh well, maybe next time. / The pub ‘sign’ is not a sign at all but an illuminated glass cabinet containing a brace of stuffed pheasants – a cock and a hen. I don’t know how long the glass box has been up there, but I know it wouldn’t be five minutes outside a London pub before some senseless yob would throw a brick at it.
Sutton Bank is a high vantage point at the very edge of the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors with extensive views over the Vale of York and the Vale of Mowbray. Because of its location and high elevation, Sutton Bank is popular with gliding and flying enthusiasts. Predominant landmarks include Whitestone Cliff and Roulston Scar, the former overlooking the mysterious (and reputedly bottomless !) Lake Gormire. Close nearby are the villages of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff, and Kilburn (famous for the White Horse of Kilburn, and Robert Thompson – the “Mouseman” of Kilburn). / Sutton Bank is one of the most spectacular inland cliffs anywhere in Britain, and carries one of the most hair-raising main roads in the country. The near vertical drop from top to bottom is around 140 metres, and crosses at least two major geological boundaries. / The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park – home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England. It provides the perfect introduction to the National Park, its people, history and wildlife. Nikon D60 / HDR in Photomatix & pp in PS CS3 / Lens: Nikkor 18-200mm / 1/160 f/9.0 ISO200
