Canon Powershot with IR filter “As Is” / Brandywine Falls Ohio / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / I have been waiting for this kind of shot for a long time. The storms were fierce with a ton of rain last night. I decided to take of work and spend the day at the falls near my house. I must have snapped 200 pictures today. What a great day!! I found a new toy its my infrared lens. Of course I have many different shots just like this :-) I posted a photo in color as well at a different time called – Approaching / Autumn / ....................................................................................................................... / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / Click to View By Category: / -—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / - Waterfall Photos / - Selective Coloring / - Infrared Photos / - Black and White Photos / - Animal Photos / - Downtown Cleveland ............................................................................................................... / ................................................................................................................ /
Same view everyday. Wish they’d point me somewhere interesting. I mean… how hard would it be to leave my frame pointed at some wonder of the world? But no.. I have to spend my life looking at the kitchen. I rarely bother to look out now. Hardly seems worth the effort.
Red Bubble’s First Book /// In the Moment /// Overall Winner / I found myself in Geneva for a week for work last year. The only other time I had been to Switzerland was Zurich for 2 nights in the middle of winter, so I was kind of surprised by the beautiful (and hot!) summer weather I experienced on this visit. / The Lake at Geneva is where everyone goes to cool off and I was mesmerised watching all these crazy dudes doing amazing things off a high-dive on the edge of the lake. I took a few shots and managed to capture this moment among them. / I entered this work into the 2007 Linden Gallery Post Card Show in St.Kilda, and was absolutely stoked to have been awarded one of the six entries to be reproduced as postcards and sold through the gallery.
This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!
Enjoy!

“A Moment of Silence” Looking East From Picture Lake Into North Cascades National Park, Washington. The day I went up to Picture Lake to take this photo, it was extremely windy. I thought my day was wasted as I really wanted to capture the reflections of Mount Shuksan. When I got my camera set up for the shoot, the wind subsided and the resulting picture was taken. When I finished the shoot, the wind started up again and the reflections disappeared. That was a lucky day for me…....Lynn This photo was featured in two groups…Western US Artists and Photographers and Mountains and Light /

From the article “Images that Intrigue” by Peter Skinner www.aftercapture.com A superb example of a campaign eliciting / that emotional response is one of / Dean’s most recent success stories—images / for an ongoing series, “Fabricate,” for / couture designers MXM Couture (www. / mxmcouture.com). Significantly, the initial / two images in the “Fabricate” campaign / claimed first and second place in / the latest Commercial/Advertising Photographer / of the Year International Aper-ture Awards. In the only other competition / Dean has entered—as a student—he / claimed a gold and silver distinction and / a runner-up award for prints in the annual / Australian Professional Photographers / Association awards. / “ ‘Fabricate’ is a collaboration of / some of the best stylists and production / people that Australia has to offer / and I feel it definitely shows. There will / be five images in the series and the first / two took months to produce so there are / still three more to complete. It’s a really / exciting campaign,” says Dean. / “Fabricate,” as Dean explains, has a / double meaning and is an exploration / into conceptualization; its execution / is definitely a mental exercise. “ ‘Fabricate’ / refers both to the subject of fashion / photography, the clothes, and more / importantly to the images’ fabrication—how they are created in the sense that / they are highly stylized pre- and postproduction / collages,” he says. / Each image is designed and created / with the intention of arousing intense curiosity / and examination into not only its / finality but also how it was made and its / underlying theme. “The images turn the / exhibition of fashion through photography / back on itself by exposing the process / of exhibition itself—exhibiting the / exhibit, if you will,” says Dean. While this / is a classic case of a picture being worth a / thousand words, Dean points out that the / multi-layered images allow viewers to analyze / the process of digital photography itself, / which incorporates surreally collaged / objects or has perfectly manicured and / poised models caught in mid-jump. / “The series is united by a sense of volatility,” / Dean says. “Subjects are frozen within / turbulent scenes. This chaos, depicted / through flapping wings, flowing dresses / and crashing objects, is meant to reflect / the flippant, fleeting and unstable nature / of the fashion industry. And yet within this / chaos each image captures an ephemeral / moment of beauty, allowing the models to / maintain their dominance—to which the / audience is unwittingly subjected.” Scrutinize / the superb images and you will see / exactly what he means. / As with all complex and multi-faceted / campaigns, the genesis of “Fabricate” has / been long and demanding. Several months / were devoted to drafting the original concepts, / set building, hair and costume design. / Each image is multi-layered and the / set design was a combination of over 20 / different elements. All backgrounds for / the series’ images were shot in an old museum, / a location that provided ideal elements / such as walls, floors and windows. / A major technical challenge was ensuring / consistency of lighting—its quality, intensity / and direction. A Sydney retouching / company, Electric Art (www.electricart. / com.au), was hired for conformity maintenance— / to ensure the same look and feel / was infused into each image, / With two “Fabricate” images under / his belt, Dean is now working on the remaining / three but no specifics have been / finalized—although the models have / been selected and some shooting on various / elements has been completed. Don’t / be surprised, however, if themes such as / exorcism, dead swans and models in dark / or macabre locations are featured.

Hello World! Welcome to Mr Baxter’s Picture of the Week. Each and every Monday I shall peruse the last seven days of images and find one that catches my eye, then post it here, write about it and even link to it from my Twitter account. The winning image will be on sale at a 0% markup for the week, and any sales generated in that time will get the artist double the earnings in RedBubble vouchers at a standard 30% markup. They will also receive a special commemorative certificate and of course exposure, not the sort that gets you arrested though. / / —-—-—- Picture of the Week Champion – Week One – aspenrock Would you just look at this marvellous collection of black and white pixels, even devoid of colour the story is so strong. And none of it is even in the picture, it’s really all about what’s happening outside the door. Is there a fight going on? Some dancing goats? A Formula 1 pit stop? We’ve no idea, but it draws us in and tears at our minds. She’s Jules Winnfield staring into Marsellus Wallace’s briefcase. Books have been written on this unseen. It’s emotive and silent, but leaves me clawing for answers. Good Work AspenRock. —-—-—-- Go and show her your love. But in particular this image, I do believe the boy is some kind of Hair-o-meter. He hangs around until you are ready to go out and then gives you an expression to represent what he thinks of your hair. In this case I believe it to be a snapshot from when he was brought before Don King. A unique portrait and a remarkable execution. Hello World! Because I am a man of routine, it’s Picture of the Week time again. They will also receive a special commemorative certificate and of course exposure, not the sort that gets you arrested though. / / —-—-—- Picture of the Week Champion – Week Three – Matthew Parsons This is crazy, a muted ‘70s postcard, an abstract shape lovefest and a still from a Tim Burton movie rolled into one, with some subtle vignetting to draw you to the eyes. Not that you really need it, they’re MASSIVE. What is that thing? A tug boat? Tug boat builders in Canada have the sort of comedy streak we need to see in our politicians. And in the corner, ‘La Petite’, surely some fine irony. Love the crop, love the angles, love the colour, love the surrealism. That’s a lot of love. Have you noticed, that if you hover your mouse cursor over any image in RB a popup appears with the following information: Image Title by Artist’s name? Have you wondered how RB does this and also, how can you use this information? The good news is, it is not difficult and you can include any text message that you want. Have a look at the image below and move your mouse cursor over the image. / Did you see the popup? You can add any message you like to any of your images. I should stress that this will not work on the normal RB viewing pages (other than in your image description area), however, you can add hyperlinked images to your Profile page or you could include them in Journal entries or replies to comments If you want to know how to do it, follow the instructions below. It is a little complicated, but like all things, with a bit of practice, it will become easier. First, let’s look at the example. You need to look at my previous Journal entry Adding a frame around your pictures. This will give you the method for making the framed pictures. Now we need to add the Hyperlink to the framed pictures. The method is as follows: / It is best to create your links in the Notepad application on your PC. I need to explain it, because if I type it here exactly as you need to do, RedBubble will convert the link into a real Hyperlink in my Journal page. Type an exclamation mark (!) Then paste the URL for the framed picture directly after the exclamation mark (make sure you have no spaces). Now you will add your popup message – it needs to be enclosed in brackets. For instance, (Click here to be taken to the image page) Type another exclamation mark (!) Follow this with a full-colon (:) Next, in RedBubble, you need to go to the Public View of the picture you want to link to. Copy the URL (It is at the top of the screen and starts with http://) into your mouse buffer (highlight the URL, right-click your mouse and select Copy from the list that appears). Paste this URL directly after the full-colon (remember, NO spaces anywhere other than in your popup message text). In simple terms: The hyperlink element (the URL pointing to the picture) that you want to see on the page, and the bracketed popup message must be enclosed in a set of exclamation marks (!) At the end of this element, you need to type a full-colon (:) Next thing you need is the pointer (the URL of where you want to point – this can be a picture or a web page) Example (you would need to fill in the URL information, and remove all superfluous spaces): Picture example / ! URL of picture you want to see(Popup text)! : URL of picture you want to hyperlink to So, to recap: / – exclamation mark / – URL for the framed picture / – bracketed popup text / – exclamation mark / – full-colon / – URL for your final picture Once you have typed it all into Notepad, highlight all of the text and copy it to your mouse buffer. Paste the copied information into RB. That should be it. Make sure to check that it all worked. This example shows how to turn a framed picture into a hyperlink, but the method can be applied to any of the other types of pictures in RedBubble. Let me know if you have any problems. Now, while I have your attention: / Look into the monitor, looks straight at the monitor, don’t look around the monitor. OK, now you are under. Repeat after me: / MUST BUY TOM’S WORK, MUST BUY TOM’S WORK, MUST BUY TOM’S WORK. Now as soon as you have completed your order, you will be back in the room and will remember none of this – hehehe. Cheers, / Tom You can find all my How To Tutorials by clicking here.

As many of you know, it is very easy to insert pictures and clickable links in various places around Redbubble. If you don’t know how yet then look here and here From that same account I post a lot of journals featuring other artists work. Some journals have 20 or so clickable picture links. Some of you may be aware, but if not I hope you find this of use, it is very quick and easy to do a lot of images in a short period of time. The wording required between the two ! is exactly the same for each type of picture (postcard, laminated printed, medium square, etc) and just by changing the description means copy and paste can mean very quick multiple postings. I will show you an example (PLEASE SUBSTITUTE THE £ WITH AN ! – If I type ! the picture comes up instead of the text) £http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/border:noborder/product:mounted-print/size:small/view:preview/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops.jpg£:http://www.redbubble.com/people/stuartchapman/art/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops Gives this If you then copy and paste the above text again the next line down but replace the bolded italics bits only £http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/border:noborder/product:mounted-print/size:small/view:preview/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops.jpg£:http://www.redbubble.com/people/stuartchapman/art/3564688-4-jumping-rooftops Now by clicking on a new image and copying part of the new URL underneath stuartchapman/art/1294503-23-not-my-view-from-work And replace the number and name only in the picture and copy and paste from the name of the person on the URL link. i.e. / £http://images-3.redbubble.net/img/art/border:noborder/product:mounted-print/size:small/view:preview/1294503-23-not-my-view-from-work.jpg£:http://www.redbubble.com/people/stuartchapman/art/1294503-23-not-my-view-from-work In no time 20 clickable picture links can make their way into your journal / homepage / artwork at a fraction of the time (maybe you could use that spare time to buy me a coffee!)
