I saw the reflection of that “prisoned” tree in the window, while I was enjoying a mountain climb here in Macedonia, a moment before i could see it free. It gave me a thought of what are we doing to our mother nature and couldn’t resist to pull the shutter of my camera as a modest contribution to a free green planet.

“A Moment of Silence” Looking East From Picture Lake Into North Cascades National Park, Washington. The day I went up to Picture Lake to take this photo, it was extremely windy. I thought my day was wasted as I really wanted to capture the reflections of Mount Shuksan. When I got my camera set up for the shoot, the wind subsided and the resulting picture was taken. When I finished the shoot, the wind started up again and the reflections disappeared. I got a kick out of this one…as he was running towards me for more food, I was able to capture him, his reflection and his shadow. His expression says it all. Taken at Pismo Beach. Mount Shuksan is in the North Cascades National Park, Washington State, USA. / This part of the USA is known as “The Pacific North West.” We arrived here good and early, before the crowds arrived, and since there is a highway running all the way to “Artist Point” it can indeed get busy , I guess owing to the fact that it is easily accessible from the Seattle region, straight off the Interstate from Bellingham, an easy drive of less than two hours, and not too remote, / I spotted some postcards and tourist brochures with a variety of images of this scene, and determined to see it for myself. Glad I did. I would love to see this when snow blankets the ground ! “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” JOHN MUIR Shot on a CANON EOS 20D, mounted on a tripod, polarising filter attached, f22, 1/30 sec, iso 100, auto wb, 18-55mm lens, / set at 18mm, RAW file, processed as much as possible in Adobe Camera Raw then CS3, usual levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour, Intellisharpen used. This is the expanded version of “Pumpkin”. I was not sure if I would have time to complete this image before the, “Monsters” comp deadline, so I took a section and posted it as, “Pumpkin”. Here though the full version, now complete. The vegetarian werewolf, hereafter known as, “Pumpkin” feeds her little one the much needed flesh of the wild orange veggie, The nest contains remnants of a few midnight feasts and I have included a few other “Halloween” type icons in the pic. The process: A scanned pencil sketch completed in Corel Painter with a Wacom Graphics tablet.
