November 2007 was the best session of waves the surfers have had in a long time. / The gentlemens name is Jim. He is from Hawai and happens to be a professionnal photographer. Pure coincidence. Life.

I visited this flower from dawn till about 11 am waiting for it to fully open, and here it is. I was moved by its proud structure, glorious colours, and the interest it generated in the visiting tropical insect population. Taken at the Evason Resort and Spa, Phuket, Thailand.

The setting for the movie The Beach, this idyllic bay on Phi Phi island can be packed with tourists and speedboats during the day in the dry season, but a small trail leads uphill from the beach, and there I met no-one.
