  • The second installment of this duo portrait. A while ago I upload my self portrait, which is actually only half the artwork. I wasn’t sure the other half would be comfortable with her picture being on a website like redbubble but when she saw that I uploaded mine she said that those 2 should never ever be parted. She is right. The “she” I’m talking about, the beautiful girl in this image, was my girlfriend. Today, so many years later, she is my lovely wife. These 2 portraits grace our entrance hall and get a lot of reaction so I really wanted to upload them to redbubble although I don’t think that they are likely to be bought. So now, with my wife’s approval, .... Here is the other portrait from the duo: /

  • In Roman mythology, Janus (or Ianus) was the god of gates, doors, doorways, beginnings, and endings. Janus was usually depicted with two heads (not faces) looking in opposite directions, and was frequently used to symbolize change and transitions such as the progression of past to future, of one condition to another, of one vision to another, the growing up of young people, and of one universe to another. He was also known as the figure representing time because he could see into the past with one face and into the future with the other. Hence, Janus was worshipped at the beginnings of the harvest and planting times, as well as marriages, births and other beginnings. He was representative of the middle ground between barbarity and civilization, rural country and urban cities, and youth and adulthood.

  • This is a collaboration that I have had the pleasure of completing with the incredibly talented, portrait extraordinaire Shelly Hiebert. The original photo is below. I manipulated the colour of the original portrait of Shelly’s daughter Abi. Added some linear movement and distorted the image further. I feel it gave the image a gothic, yet almost electronic or digital appeal, so I chose Beautiful People as title, as a dedication to one of Shelly’s favourite songs. I’d like to thank Shelly for allowing me this fantastic opportunity to expand my skills, portfolio and our own friendship.
