  • The mission in Monterey, California, is just gorgeous. The white wash walls, the pink-orange rock, the vividly colored flowers, and the bell in the tower are so impressive. In the fall along the coast of California, the early morning clouds are not an issue, and in the early morning hours the sky is so blue it is breathtaking. The day I was there an art class was scattered around the courtyard painting at their easels. Artists sitting under their large-brimmed hats were creating their masterpieces. It was quite a sight. There I was among them painting with light, because, after all, photographers who create art do that.

  • / / / Aleah and I used to do a lot of shots together but we hadn’t tried it for ages, so we decided to go for a drive to Geelong’s North Shore to see what we could come up with. Thank you, Aleah, for being a wonderful daughter and for breathing in all the dust and fumes at this location in order to get some shots that would hopefully convey a message.

  • Osteospermum plants originate from South Africa and the name is derived from the Greek osteon (= bone) and Latin spermum (= seed). • / / / Over the Easter weekend, I stumbled upon a ceremony at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo while taking some shots. My daughter and I were immediately welcomed, told that this was a Blessing of the Fire and handed candles (even though I had a backpack and camera attached to tripod in hand). / / With choir, small congregation and church staff (is that the right expression?), it was a beautiful ceremony to witness. As the congregation filtered into the doorway with their candles, I remembered that I had the remote shutter just hanging there, still plugged in. So, hoping to capture some of the movement with the candles, I switched it on. Over the next 47 seconds this is what it captured – I had to straighten the picture slightly because I was on a bit of an angle… / At that point, my daughter and I thanked one of the church officials and slipped away to drive back to Geelong (about 2 hours away). / / Definitely a View Largie! / / / /

  • Calla Lilies (Zantedeschias) make good house plants with attractive brilliant white flowers and heart or arrow-shaped leaves. Zantedeschia is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants in the family Araceae, native to southern Africa from South Africa north to Malawi. The name of the genus was given as a tribute to Italian botanist Giovanni Zantedeschi (1773-1846) by the German botanist Kurt Sprengel (1766 – 1833). Common names include Arum lily for Z. aethiopica, calla, and calla lily for Z. elliottiana and Z. rehmannii although it is neither a true lily (Liliaceae), nor Arum or Calla (related genera in Araceae). It is also often erroneously spelled as “cala lily”. It has often been used in many paintings, and is visible in many of Diego Rivera’s works of art (see The Flower Vendor, amongst others). The Zantedeschia are rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plants growing to 1-2.5 m tall with leaves 15-45 cm long. The inflorescence is a showy white, yellow or pink spathe shaped like a funnel with a yellow, central, finger-like spadix. The Zantedeschia species are very poisonous, capable of killing livestock and children. “All parts of the plant are toxic, and produce irritation and swelling of the mouth and throat, acute vomiting and diarrhea.” T-shirts, Unique Gifts, Posters, Art and more! / At my ZAZZLE store Female Contemporary Art you can instantly create and customise my art to your own personal style. / / / !http://images-2.redbubble.net/img/art/product:canvas-print/size:small/view:preview/2925172-1-shaded-calla.jpg:http://www.redbubble.com/people/taiche/art/2925172-1-shaded-calla My zazzle gallery has a premium range of gifts that are suitable for people of all ages and tastes: an eclectic collection of unusually imaginative, hip and sometimes beautiful designs. • As Is. I was lucky (I think) to capture this water feature/fountain on the end of River-Styx Lake while the sun was shining through it so prettily. Right time-right place! I loved it, and thought I would share it with you. Camera: Panasonic Lumix O.I.S. 5x Optical zoom DCM-LZ8.

  • I found these lovely wildflowers( Crown Vetch)(scientific Name:Coronilla Varia L.) while investigating the rocky shorelines at Lake Erie, in Ohio by Avon Lake. I felt like they would make a great card for any occasion. It is a legume-member of the pea family. It is a low growing vine, commonly used in the United States to prevent soil erosion, since the 1950’s. It is native to Europe, Asia, & Africa. Crown Vetch is toxic to horses, and if ingested in large amounts can cause slow growth, paralysis, or DEATH. I hope you enjoy this lovely plant’s blossoms, too. AS IS.
