This is one of the images that I submitted for one of my projects at university.

This image has much energy behind it. The shot was taken last Sunday morning and was for a family clothing company called Black and Blue. The model is the owners 17 y/o daughter Angie. This is the real story with this photo. Angie’s parents love her dearly but were scared that if the shots didn’t work that their daughter may take it pretty hard. I think that even Angie was a little nervous and wasn’t so sure she could pull the shots off. They are to be used in the company’s point of sale and catalogues and normally her parents would employ professional models. On the day I was in a very relaxed place and connected really well with Angie and her father who was also at the shoot. In my workshops I talk much about how important it is for the photographer and the model to connect. That this connection can make or break a shot. As the shoot progressed I saw Angie blossom. The more relaxed she became the more her physical appearance opened up and began to shine. The shot here is one where I feel Angie is 100% in the moment. When it came up on the computer I felt a big rush of pride and inspiration. I knew that the shot was projecting the freedom that Angie has inside but perhaps has not always had faith in. Just seeing this gave me such a lift for my day. I think that looks are so important to people even though we tend to not admit to this. In my opinion however the real lift we receive from appearances is when they are reflecting what a person has inside. I believe that this shot is reflecting the potential and essence of a very sensitive teenager. www.leapoffaith.com.au
