This small rock pool is found in Cabbage Tree Bay, along the pathway between Manly and Shelly Beach on Sydney’s northern beaches. The sculpture/statue is known as The Oceanids. This image was a 30 second exposure nearly an hour before sunrise with the pool wall and sculpture lit up by a nearby street light. This image has also won a photo of the week at photographer Steve Parish’s Photograph Australia website.

The Bogey Hole was constructed by order of Commandant Morisset in about 1820 for his own personal use and was originally known as the “Commandant’s Baths”. Morisset was Commandant of Newcastle from 1819 to 1822. The name “Bogey Hole” was applied afterwards and comes from the Aboriginal word meaning “to bathe”.

©2004 Sara Montour I haven’t uploaded a lot of new photos lately. I’m super busy, but I definitely miss the RedBubble community and am hoping to be more involved. Fridays are a relatively slow day for me, so perhaps that will be my RedBubble day. I took this photo in 2004 when I lived in Ireland. We spent the day by the beach and were very ready to head back home. We finally got all the way back to the car and I saw this little toy and said “hold on! We can’t leave yet! I have an idea!” I ran back to the beach and took this shot and several others.

WILD & FREE / / Polar Bear mum and cubs resting on an ice floe. / A bit cold on your bum if you ask me!! / / The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. Image captured outdoors in full sunlight using 1 studio strobe and 1 gold reflector. Makeup done by me – heavy black eyeliner pencil, mascara, dark blue eyeshadow, covered face and eyebrows with concealer and powder. Wardrobe: strapless skin-colored slip. Used thick consistency eye drops to get make-up to run and create tears.

Red-Eyed Tree Frog. Red-Eyed Tree Frogs are mostly nocturnal. Seeing this one out during the day was extremely lucky. This gorgeous frog uses its colouration to camouflage into its rainforest environments. It’s sticky toe pads allow it to climb up vertical surfaces with ease. Odin
by ibjennyjennyThis is Odin….he lives at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Odin is an 8 year old White Bengal Tiger who was hand raised, his trainer is Lee Munro. Odin is 10 feet long from nose to tail and he loves to swim; he is the star of the exhibit “Odin’s Temple of the Tiger”. Odin’s mother was the first White Tiger born at the park. I was so taken by this guy, he is so handsome and has such a personality. The face he is making here is actually keeping the water from going up his nose. A century ago there were about 100,000 tigers in the wild. Now there are just 2,500 adults, with the Bengal / variety almost extinct. None has been seen in the wild since the last white tiger was shot and killed in 1958. Deviantart Daily Deviation, 2009-08-06
