This composition came to fruition around midnight in the middle of nowhere in western NSW. This was my 3 year old daughters first time playing in the rain. It was so amazing to watch her delight . I think we can all relate to tilting our faces up towards the the sky, trying to catch the rain as it falls on our cheeks. BEST VIEWED LARGER CURENT ENTRY IN MORNINGS AND EVENINGS CHALLENGE THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT THis shot was taken from Berrys Bay/ Balls Head Park on the north shore of Sydney taken on Wednesday 28th May 2008 around 5pm. As you can see the clouds herald what is to come, the buildings are lit by pre storm light combined with the last rays of day light. The storm that followed was quite severe with 868 recorded lightning strikes, just have to love the clouds and light. Equipment used Nikon D300 and Nikon 18 – 200mm lens. /

Nick and I were hoping to catch up with Ken Wright for a shoot, but the weather wasn’t looking good. Ken decided to sleep in, but Nick and I drove down to the coast anyway. Sat in the car while it rained and waited, and waited….then walked down to the rocks after dawn, with umbrellas….and waited some more….eventually I weakened and asked for the keys so I could start shooting…. I’m glad I did…..got some rippers, in the end! Thank goodness for the heavy clouds, makes shooting after dawn so much easier! Canon 5D, 16-35mm at ?, f/11, 0.6”, ISO 50….lee nd grad filters, tripod, cable release, firm footing on high ground, surging tide. The wind was blowing so hard as the storm approached. My wife was feeding the seagulls and they were just hovering over us. Made for some really neat shots with the Great Salt Lake and the storm in the background.
