Mt.Buffalo in the distance on the far left under the rays of the late day sun, The Fainters in sunlight right of center, and Mt.Loch just behind the ski lifts. ~~ Show Image & Location On A Map / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature
This was taken up in the Bailey Creek area South West of Mount Lassen, in Northern CA, on July 26th of this year…...the water is from Bailey Creek but was running through a large culvert and formed this wonder little waterfall back into Bailey Creek.

I reached back to another past hiking trip for this image- from the wonderful Wonderland trail around Mt. Rainier. I thought it was time for a change from the indoor images I’ve been uploading lately :) I also spruced up my profile a bit using my new knowledge on creating links!

Today I went to the funeral of Doris, an amazing 94 year old full of character and spark who kept her wonderful spirit and personality right to the end. I shall miss her and when thinking of a title for this photo taken in our recent fall of snow, the hymn sung at Doris’ funeral today seemed perfect. I Believe “I believe, for every drop of rain that falls, A flower grows…. I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, A candle glows…. I believe for everyone who goes astray, / Someone will come, to show the way, / I believe, I believe I believe, above the storm the smallest prayer, Will still be heard… I believe, that someone in the great somewhere, Hears every word…. Everytime I hear a newborn baby cry. / Or touch a leaf, or see the sky, / Then I know why, I believe.” I like the contrasts in this: the encouragement of the small and delicate pink blossom surviving the harshness of a late fall of bitterly cold snow and ice.

WILD & FREE / / Polar bear cubs and mum having a short break on an ice floe. The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! I’ve posted one shot of Castle Mountain, but this was another shot after waiting awhile for the sun to break through and strike the upper peaks and walls. Thought someone might like it.
