  • / Kodak ZD710 / / Thurmond, WV During the heyday of coal mining in the New River Gorge, Thurmond was a prosperous town with a number of businesses and facilities for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. The town was the filming location for John Sayles’ 1987 movie Matewan since it still possesses many of the characteristics of a 1920s Appalachian coal mining town. Sorce Kodak ZD710

  • You saw the interiors of the Essex Steamtrain in Connecticut with my photographs Sitting Blue and Sitting the Old Fashioned Way now we take a look at the exterior of the wonderful steamtrain. It had such a marvelous antique feel to it, reminded me of a time when this was the mode of travel. Before there were airplanes. So i gave the picture a sepia tone hoping to give the viewer the same feeling i had when i got out of my car and laid my eyes on this steamtrain. /

  • Pushing the boundaries here (apologies to those who watch my work for the pretty girlie stuff!!! I was tempted to start another account for these images … ) ... created from scratch (frame included) in CS3 with a photo of vintage trains combined with some cross processing and who knows what else! The train was shot at the Railway Museum in Thirlmere (Southern Highlands) NSW … well worth a day’s visit. Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM

  • For some, the train is a symbol of the “daily grind,” but for others, like my visiting niece, the train is a grand adventure. May we all be blessed to see through the eyes of a child from time to time and look at our daily lives again with wonder.

  • I was out doing a night shoot around the Kwinana industrial area last night with a group of Perth photographers. Had a great night, despite the night getting off to a wet start. A bit of light painting along the train tracks. There was a train that was unloading a bit further up the track at the grain terminal which had been sitting there for a few hours, But as soon as I started to do some photography on the line, the train started heading down towards us! LOL EOS 500D.

  • Another from our train ride down the mountain…..& me doing what I kept telling my children not to do; sticking my head too far out the window to take the shot! [canon 1000D, Tamron 18-200 @ 80mm]

  • / Kodak ZD710 / / Project Arizona / / Over two years ago I started my “photographic career” in the state of Arizona. I had many photos from there up on my bubblesite and when I moved here to WV I then had a mixture of the two states. I didn’t feel, however, that if I were going to try and market to WV magazines, tourist centers and local galleries that my AZ stuff should remain up and so I removed it. I have second guessed that decision ever since I clicked on the “Yes I’m Sure” button. So I asked my FB friends if I should put some back up on RB and I received a resounding “YES!!!”. Starting sometime this week I will be re-uploading a selection of my AZ photos for every one’s enjoying pleasure. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Cheers ~Levi / / Vail, AZ
