  • Taken in South Australia in 2006, the lightning storm was natures most beautiful yet deadly show. The experience was priceless.

  • Clearing storm over the ocean, early morning at Barn Hill, south of Broome in Western Australia.

  • I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007. • “Rolling On” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An approaching afternoon storm appears on the horizon while a field of hay bales are still glowing in the sun. / Bowen, Queensland. “And then to dwell in sovereign barns, / And dream the days away, / The grass so little has to do, / I wish I were the hay!” / ~Emily Dickinson

  • Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, this was at the end of a short but powerful storm. The lightning was much too close, couldn’t stand with the tripod, just ran to it between strikes. Didn’t get too many keepers that night, but was happy with this one. Wish I had a better foreground, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. / / Other lightning shots: / / / /

  • “As I regained consciousness the storm was gaining momentum. I had strapped myself to my raft knowing that I may well not survive the night. As the dawn approached I struggled to hold on to what was left of my makeshift raft. My hands and feet were raw from the rope that I had used to secure myself. The size of the waves was terrifying and I prayed that with the new day the storm would pass and I would be safe…....” Macro photograph taken from a palm tree on the Gold Coast! This was taken just after the middle of the day from the shaded side of the tree. I am rather passionate about macro photography mostly of bark, rocks and flowers!! :) /

  • Taken during a dust storm recently, from Salt Clay Road, looking back over Cootamundra in the Riverina District of NSW. (It is a change to be shooting in dust instead of mist!) Cootamundra is possibly most well known for being the actual birthplace of cricket legend Sir Donald Bradman. It also lends its name to the Cootamundra Wattle – the town is abloom in July and August when these trees are in full flower. • Digital Photography has come a long way, people can now take better photo becasue of the more sophisticated equipments….higher resolutions. Sydney is FULL of the early riser (photographer who gets up at 4:30am searching for the ultimate sunrise shot), what a better way to do it than being near the water to watch the sun comes up. I am one of them. This is a weekly rountine for a lot of people i know. This is my Sydney, this is how it is NOW. Oat 10-22mm ultra-wide…..dramatic enough? Just another morning shoot, we were blessed with these beautiful clouds, plus low still tide to create these beautiful reflection at Long Reef, Sydney. Have you ever wanted to walk on water? / Cold morning? with the right gear you can stay warm and even walk on water. I didn’t have my speedlite with me so onboard camera flash will have to do, compensated to +2EV flash power. Theory Behind The Shot: / Trying to keep the bg as underexpose as you can by metering it. / Ideally, what one should do is that meter the bg and see how much it is, then adjust the flash to match it, so then you get evenly expose photo. but no flash would match the sun…so yeah. This is why they use reflector to reflect light back to the subject – if you dont want to use a flash. – again i have no reflector. If you meter the subject….the camera would think, "shit, it’s dark, let brighten it up" – then you get blown out sky. So you meter the background and use flash to light the subject Photo of www.flickr.com/photos/echo_photos/

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER This shot was taken from Berrys Bay/ Balls Head Park on the north shore of Sydney taken on Wednesday 28th May 2008 around 5pm. As you can see the clouds herald what is to come, the buildings are lit by pre storm light combined with the last rays of day light. The storm that followed was quite severe with 868 recorded lightning strikes, just have to love the clouds and light. Equipment used Nikon D300 and Nikon 18 – 200mm lens / HDR , 3 Exposures , Photomatix 3, Capure NX / . / See Also /

  • VIEW IT LARGER HERE I’d forgotten about this shot I took and only found it whilst browsing some earlier files, so I decided to upload it, it’s one of my favorite action shots because of the way the texture of the water looks and it feels like the picture is going to run off the screen and leave me soaking wet! 1 raw / f/something / Nikon D80

  • Taken from Gunwalloe Cove on the western side of the Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall, England. / I couldn’t resist taking this picture of the clouds which were heading our way bringing the nights rain.
