This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

This shot was taken in Copacabana in 2006, a little town in the north of Bolivia, situated on the bank of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800 mts. / There was a big celebration in town that day and so much to see and discover. But I was so tired that I decided to sit down and rest for a while when those two men sat just in front of me. I took so many pictures of them but this one is my favorite. Click /

Yep, says it all, especially in this day and age. It seems our rights and liberties are under attack….many photographers these days face stiff questioning from authorities whom have actually no right to do so, in asking us what it is we are photographing, for whom, and why we are. We are stopped, looked at, observed, harassed, detained, questioned, arrested, cited for laws which don’t exist, when all we want to do is capture something we see beautiful. All because many of us are thought to be terrorists….now you can show em exactly what ya think with this shirt!

Wilsons Promontory – ‘The Prom’, 2008 Have managed this summer to get out there and surf a bit. Lately just me, my board and my camera down the coast, tenting it and basically taking time out for myself. After a few hours in the water you get this kind of fuzzy peaceful feeling inside, equal parts exhaustion and elation. I love that headspace of daydreaming, and find it a really inspirational state for visual ideas to come to the surface.

Recently we did a test shoot for two really funny and crazy guys who also happen to make music together, Jase and Tom after their manager aeris saw my stuff on RedBubble and decided I am shit hot at what I do. (I’m working on the modesty bit, I swear.) Anyway they really really didn’t want to do a photo shoot in a smelly, public, and damp mens’ toilet so naturally I nagged at them until they relented. Then the first thing their manager said upon viewing this image was “That one’s for RedBubble!” So here it is.

Hosier Lane in Melbourne, Australia. A result of 9 images (3 HDR’s) done in Photomatix. Merged the HDR’s in photoshop using automate > Photomerge. John Lennon Wall, Prague / After John Lennon’s assassination in 1980 mourners in (then) Czechoslovakia painted images of Lennon and words of love and condolence on a large inner-city wall in Prague. The communist authorities had the wall painted over. Undaunted, the fans put up new poems and art, and thus a tradition began. No longer painted over by authorities, the John Lennon wall is a massive artwork in progress, continually being painted over and over and densely layered with words of love and peace from individuals all over the world. Power to the people, right on! /
