  • A rubber ducky just cannot accompany a small group of Sydney RedBubblers, without having to pose for photographs. Oh…....Lord, it’s hard to be humble...! / (When you’re perfect in every way!) Or, to put it in Dutch: ‘t Is moeilijk bescheiden te blijven.......” / / . / / .

  • I thought I would try something a little different in PS with this more than photogenic coyote. I have not concluded if I like this piece. There are certainly people here on RB with much more PS talent than I. Express your true thoughts. This fella is located at the Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Please View Larger /

  • I can’t get a bad photo of Stormy!!! Well if his back is turned I suppose!! We are so glad to have this little guy even though he licks my nose and purrs me awake all hours of the night!! LOL. HDR/Orton used. /

  • Scruffy was curious all right. And this shot I took of him only proves that had I looked away for one second the flower would have gotten it. / My featured model for this shot is Scruffy, another rescue that was dropped in our neighborhood about six years ago now, by a feral mother. Scruffy was the only kitten out of a small litter that survived. We never saw the mother again after she weened these kittens. / Scruffy was originally featured in this capture Join Me here: / / Which was my first feature in “The Rescued Pets Group”.

  • Our rescued cat with the bottom-less pit for a stomach, always waiting for that perfect moment to snatch a bite!

  • Now for something a little bit different. This was part of my course at university – studio photography. This was taken with a Hasselblad 501cm medium format camera – with a flashring – developed in darkroom and scanned from the original print (my negs are still with lecturer).

  • WOW! Believe me, this was a HUGE surprise this year! We love Butternutt squash—and always plant them, as well as Zuccini, yellows, and Hubbards. THIS WILD looking ‘fellow’(I presume) peeped out from under the bushes and I had to have help to pick him up without risking dropping him and either breaking MY toes, or the NECK of the squash. I almost hate to cook him, as he is quite photogenic! Ha,ha. BUT, a nice mashed, buttery addition to the meal he shall be! AS IS——7.5 pounds! / Medina,Ohio Camera: Panasonic Lumix Mega O.I.S. 5X Optical Zoom DMC-LZ8.

  • Neither of us did the “clothing thing” when using the filtered light of blinds. The obvious comparisons simply have to be made so be kind and remember this IS just a kitten. :_D You’d never believe that tiny kitten was playing ferociously less than 3 minutes before the lighting became fun. I asked her to come to and she did. She looked up at me while we were both sitting on the couch (where she is seen here). I reached a good distance away and brought the NIkon D90 out of its case. She sat next to me and watched. I took off the lens cap stood up squatted in front of her with the camera aimed her way to get the light settings. Jasper sat there quietly. Once the stripes started making patterns on her face, she got a little antsy because the direct sunlight wasn’t comfortable. I got her to face away from the direct glare with a hand moved to the side of the camera; her eyes followed it as though it was the most interesting thing on the planet. I think I shot 50 images before I got bored. Jasper didn’t. But immediately after I set down the camera and stood up, her eyes perked up, pointy ears gave me full attention, and she ran to find a toy mouse. She didn’t even need to hear me say “bring it to me cuz you’re playing ‘fetch’, not me!” This cat is gonna be waaaaaaaaaaayyy too much fun. She was born with a lifetime license to charm! :-D About the shot… This is direct from the camera. I used some of the onboard editing options and compared the results with the best I could do with LightRoom. Nothing seemed particularly better so having an “as is” shot seemed like the most interesting way to go. And I consider this one “as is” even tho the exposure was automatically enhanced using onboard D-lighting and enlarged for Red Bubble prints using Elements 3. NIkkor 18 – 105 mm lens / f-stop: 4.5 / full manual control with 1/3 bracketing (under/even/over) / exposure 1/30 / ISO: 200 (the baseline for Nikon D90’s) / metering mode: spot / focal length: 22mm / exposure bias: -1.3 The sun, courtesy God, was setting thru the livingroom blinds and over the town of Penn Valley, California. Yes, I knew the cat’s eye in the direct light would be slightly squinted. I thought about saying I planned that so she’s look more sly. Then I woke up. Generously featured in the Paws & Claws Group featured in Nikon D90 Users Group with the deepest appreciation!

  • Another Benji pic :3 / Benji is unfortunately staying with my former step dad right now because my mom moved into an apartment. Huge let down. No pets allowed. So Walle the orange kitty is staying with my mom’s friend who lives outside the city. Benji is supposed to live there too but ran away when they tried to take him… so now he’s with my former step dad where my dog Max is staying too. Poor Benji :( / Everything is slowly being taken away from me. /

The smallest of the three boys – short haired with very big feet! The Rottweiler, or Rottweil Metzgerhund (“Butchers Dog”), is a “medium to large size, stalwart dog” breed originating in Germany as a herding dog. It is a hardy and very intelligent breed. Rottweilers also worked as draught dogs, pulling carts to carry meat and other products to market. “Rottweiler breeders aim at a dog of abundant strength, black coated with clearly defined rich tan markings, whose powerful appearance does not lack nobility and which is exceptionally well suited to being a companion, service and working dog.” The Rottweiler was kept busy in these traditional roles until the mid-19th century when railroads replaced droving for getting livestock to market. Although there are still Rottweilers working stock all over the world, many other roles have been found for this versatile breed. During the first and second World Wars, Rottweilers were put into service in various roles including as messenger, draught and guard dogs. Currently they are often used as search and rescue, assistance, guide dogs for the blind, guard and police dogs in addition to their traditional roles. Although an extremely versatile breed used in recent times for many other purposes, the Rottweiler is first and foremost one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of herding breeds. A multi-faceted herding and stock protection dog of exceptional ability, it is capable of working all kinds of livestock under a wide variety of conditions. The breed is an ancient one, whose history stretches back to the Roman Empire. In those times, the legions traveled with their meat on the hoof and required the assistance of working dogs to herd the cattle. One route the army traveled was through Württemberg and on to the small market town of Rottweil. The principal ancestors of the first Rottweilers during this time was supposed to be the Roman droving dog, local dogs the army met on its travels, and dogs with molosser appearance coming from England and The Netherlands. This region eventually became an important cattle area, and the descendants of the Roman cattle dogs proved their worth in both driving and protecting the cattle from robbers and wild animals. However, by the end of the 19th century as railroads became the main method for moving stock to market, the breed had declined so much that in 1900 there was only one female to be found in the town of Rottweil.
