Most know of Pakistan as a third world fanatical Muslim country full of terrorists. I have lived in Pakistan, my parents were born and raised there and though it has its many faults it also has its many beauties, its many treasures and many things that I love and cherish. At Work is a picture of my maid, Sakina in her small and modest home where I captured her hands as she used two rocks to grind herbs and spices to make that nights meal. This is a method still used in homes where a mechanical grinder is a luxury and not a necessity. According to Sakina and her mother, herbs ground on a rock maintain the rich flavors that are often lost by all our machines.

Norway, the most beautiful country in the world – or so I personally think. Endlessly inspiring, every view mesmerising, I love it. I have tried to emphasise the ever-present tranquility by focusing on this pile of stones, quite a common site in western norway incidentaly. / I hope you like it!

I took this photo of a wren last year, but I didn’t do much with it because I didn’t like the background. Now that I’m experimenting with layers and textures, I thought I’d have another whack at it and came up with this image. I’ve named it Mother Wren at Work. I love the way wrens always add soft mosses and lichen to their nests and the way they build a tiny dome like structure often inside potted ferns and plants on the patio. They are master constructionists and best of all they sing joyfully and powerfully. This tiny bird’s song is truly bigger than its body! Please view larger; Mrs. Wren would greatly appreciate it! These Boots Were Made For Walking / Timberland Boots. An artist / photographer can find inspiration from everyday objects all around him. If we look at light and colour, shape and form, utility and presence, we’ll not go far wrong. Open your eyes and you’ll see artisitic opportunities all around you. Photo Manipulation For this image, I took several shots of the boots at different exposures, HDR in Photomatrix Pro, then some layering work in Elements with two seperate textures of wood. The floor is my hallway andthe boots belong to Junior, my Son-in-law. Copied the original background layer, did a colour overlay, blurred, then some dodging and burning and eraser work to reveal more of the boots through the textures. That’s it, simples really:-) LOL.
