This was another shot from the other day at Sunset. I really wanted to bring out the amazing colors of the sunset and shooting directly at the sun was hard to get a good exposure especially with the standard canon kit lens I was getting a fair bit of lens flare (Cant wait till I my Sigma 10 -20 mm lens). So I bracketed 3 different exposures all 2 stops apart. I used a cokin ND grad filter to try to keep some of the color in the fore ground. / I really liked the contrasting colors in this shot and the tree made a nice Silhouette I then used Photomatrix pro to convert the 3 images into a HDR . Final curves and sat were done in PhotoShop.

Found this guy long after he had spotted me, but he was brave, I got within about 10’ without his moving and shot probably 40 pics over the course of a couple hours (as I kept coming back). These owls are “sit and wait” predators, dropping from a perch onto their prey. They feed mainly on that which is most available and may include insects, small mammals, birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, and crayfish. Their lifespan is up to 13 years. The adobe-walled courtyard with street access is typical of southwestern U.S. architecture. Doors are often painted in bright colors and it is not unusual to see adornments of skulls, horns, or fanciful handmade ornaments representing desert flora or fauna. In this case, we have a set of horns and a tin lamp shade that has been decorated with a punched design depicting a quarter moon. The sunset is a transplant from another photo. This courtyard and door can be found in Pena Blanca, New Mexico, on state highway 22. The photo is an HDR merge performed in PSP XII. Taken with a Pentax K20D.

This one was taken at popular surfing spot Cat Bay on the North West coast of Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. Got here with the hope of getting some nice long exposures of the high tide coming in and then the clouds opened up… Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens as well as poalrising, graduated and ND filters.
