Wilsons Promontory – ‘The Prom’, 2008 Have managed this summer to get out there and surf a bit. Lately just me, my board and my camera down the coast, tenting it and basically taking time out for myself. After a few hours in the water you get this kind of fuzzy peaceful feeling inside, equal parts exhaustion and elation. I love that headspace of daydreaming, and find it a really inspirational state for visual ideas to come to the surface.

Sutton Bank is a high vantage point at the very edge of the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors with extensive views over the Vale of York and the Vale of Mowbray. Because of its location and high elevation, Sutton Bank is popular with gliding and flying enthusiasts. Predominant landmarks include Whitestone Cliff and Roulston Scar, the former overlooking the mysterious (and reputedly bottomless !) Lake Gormire. Close nearby are the villages of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff, and Kilburn (famous for the White Horse of Kilburn, and Robert Thompson – the “Mouseman” of Kilburn). / Sutton Bank is one of the most spectacular inland cliffs anywhere in Britain, and carries one of the most hair-raising main roads in the country. The near vertical drop from top to bottom is around 140 metres, and crosses at least two major geological boundaries. / The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park – home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England. It provides the perfect introduction to the National Park, its people, history and wildlife. Nikon D60 / HDR in Photomatix & pp in PS CS3 / Lens: Nikkor 18-200mm / 1/160 f/9.0 ISO200

Ahh summer has arrived early for some of us this year. After a day at the beach last weekend, I was able to get that good old feeling back that only summer can bring! These kids were playing around at the beach, and I couldn’t help but be reminded of a time in life when going to the beach, making a sand castle, digging a hole to fill when tide comes in, finding something living a rock and burying someone in sand were the best things you could ever do. Life’s simple pleasures. I live for a sunny day. Taken at Port Melbourne Beach Original shot layered once and a free use texture from www.deviantart.com – tagger stock layered on top, with a slight adjustment of RGB. Finally, omni lighting effect applied. Canon 50D / 18 – 55, 58mm / f11, 1/250, ISO 100 MCN: CC3BP-T4CDV-S575Y More Textured work:
