One thing I learned a long time ago is when concentrating on an image, don’t forget to look behind you. I was busy photographing fishing boats at the opposite end of the beach and when I turned around I saw this beautiful light as a sudden rain squall approached. I, literally, snapped the image and then ran for cover as the rain pelted down. Taken with Nikon D100 and 12-24 lens. Featured in Sea group, Going Coastal and Featured Features groups.

Captured in Cave Creek, Arizona, this was at the end of a short but powerful storm. The lightning was much too close, couldn’t stand with the tripod, just ran to it between strikes. Didn’t get too many keepers that night, but was happy with this one. Wish I had a better foreground, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. / / Other lightning shots: / / / /

Its the kind of place where you can wind down at the end of the day with a cold beer or a glass of Australian Chardonnay and watch the sun set in the west.. This is my neighbourhood about 5 minutes from my home, “Just a Little Touch of Paradise.” we get some great sunsets ! / So if youre visiting Sydney areas like this are within 40 klms of the city Nikon D300, 5 bracketted images , hand held, NO FILTERS NO COLOUR MANIPULATION just pure HDR. I dragged this little table into the water at Shorncliffe and sat an old picture frame on it as a storm came across the bay at dawn. / I took an 80 sec bulb exposure @ f16 and when I processed it I put the picture ‘into’ the frame and then again into the smaller frame within that etc… /
