  • www.glennalderson.com Location: Adelaide Botanic Garden’s glasshouse Amazon Waterlily Pavilion. Native to Brazil and the Amazon this lily can grow up to 8’ leaves that can hold 300lbs. These strong and stiff leaves are covered with 1” spines on the maroon bottom of supporting ribs and sides. The new leaf is flat before growing a 3-6” rim. I wasnt happy with the light & colours on the origonal, so I made some adjustments (to the extream I saturated it). Like my image of Autumn Vines – Aldinga Beach . • A day at the beach in Essaouira, Morocco. July 2007. A lovely little beach town, in the middle of summer, this place was like an oasis. We left Marrakesh which was getting up to 40 degrees Celsius each day and I remember being on the bus for about 3 hours and then ten minutes outside of Essaouira the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. It was such an amazing relief. Even still, it was very hot and I can’t imagine going to the beach dressed like this. It’s a far cry from Australian beaches I have to say!

  • This family of 8 is not homeless (though I’m sure they are close to it) The photo was taken in July 2007, the hottest summer I have ever experienced, though probably an annual thing for the locals of Morocco. The family was sleeping on the roof because the days were reaching 45 Celsius, and the nights were not much better. Everyone stayed in the shade during the days and came out at night to go about their business. Even small children were up till 2am. Needless to say, it made my trip exhausting but exciting. Fes or Fez (Arabic فاس [Fās], French Fès) is the third largest city in Morocco, after Casablanca and Rabat, with a population of 946,815 (2004 census). It is the capital of the Fès-Boulemane Region. Fes is one of the four so-called “imperial cities” (the others are Marrakech, Meknes and Rabat). The Medina of Fes el Bali, the largest of the two medinas of Fes, is believed to be the largest contiguous car-free urban area in the world. Fes el Bali is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Care of Wikipedia, read more “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fes,_Morocco” ).

  • Plaza de toros de Ronda a.k.a. the Bullring of Ronda. Ronda is one of the most beautiful little towns I’ve ever seen. In the south of Spain, it is built on a gorge, the old town on one side, the new town on the other. The Puente Nuevo bridge spans the gorge and stands 120m above the canyon floor. (A very impressive sight, I can tell you!) The bullring was built in 1785 and is one of the oldest operational bullfighting venues in Spain. In fact, I believe it may be one of the last bullrings still hosting fights (although very rarely). This image was featured in European Everyday Life September 25, 2008.

  • The Land Where Souls Play / Pa’ia Beach Maui Hawai’i * Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009* / All Rights Reserved “An awakening to dawn mist on the water, / flowing Spirit’s streams to God’s alter, / purifying essence whistles through the trees, / images of the sacred blowing in the breeze. / Flights of fancy from birds up high, / feathers of many colours filtering through the sky, sun, moon and stars envelops Earth’s dome, / we’re all birds of a feather, finding our way home. Spectacle of mesmerizing movements flashing in the mind, / melting pots of humans, secrets hard to find, love all embracing whispers on the wind, no physical presence, ecstasy from a light dimmed. Gifts of joy enmeshed in music and dance, visualizing images filtering in a trance, warriors in a drumbeat at journeys end, back to the womb of creation enmeshed in a substance blend. Wondrous dreams in the stillness of the dark, journey on uplifting voyages in paradise park, thunder and lightening points the way, a prelude to the land where Soul’s play.” Poetry by Michael Levy Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
