Built around 1815 this church in the hills of Chimayo, New Mexico, is considered a masterpiece of colonial folk art and architecture and has been deemed a National Historic Landmark. Famed for its miraculous cross and the healing powers of the soil, the Prayer Room is filled with candles, cards & crude hand made shrines as well as crutches and braces testifying to miracles. Directly across the road they sell the best chili powder money can buy. /

The Angel of the North probably one of the most photographed works of public art in the north of England if not the country as a whole. I felt it required a fresh view and as Easter was fast approaching and the word Angel being Hebrew for messenger I thought an artistic take would be to re-create the crucifixion scene for a modern day audience. This is three images combined to make this scene.

Sunrise over Fes, Morocco. Adhan (Athaan) is the Islamic call to prayer, recited by the muezzin. The root of the word is ʼḏn “to permit”, and another derivative of this word is uḏun, meaning “ear.” This is the minaret of Kairouyine mosque in Fes. Tynemouth Priory was founded early in the 7th century. / In 800 the Danes plundered Tynemouth Priory. / Afterwards the monks strengthened the fortifications sufficiently to prevent / the Danes from succeeding when they attacked again in 832. / However, in 865 the church and monastery were destroyed by the Danes. / At the same time, the nuns of St Hilda, who had come there for safety, were massacred. This is the second shot in my Notre Dame series. This time, the front of the incredibly detailed cathedral, found in Paris, capital city of France. Citadel shows the rear of the building. This is another piece that basically created itself. I wanted a black and white, textured finish, the piece had other ideas and went for something more mystical and magical. Texture used from ‘struckdumb’ free use stock, on www.deviantart.com. Layered texture seven times, altered hue and colour levels on each to be different shades and colours. Notre Dame, Paris, capital of France. Another shot in my Notre Dame series. The original photo has been in my folio since I started on RedBubble, but was never that popular, so I gave it a make over! Original photo has been layered twice, with two separate textures layered over as well, with colour adjustments, slight tweaking of brightness and lowering of contrast.
