  • I spotted these interesting critters spinning webs in a derelict industrial area in Zanzibar. My imaginative memory has them the size of my head, though I suspect in reality they were far smaller!

  • surfing is fun, if you don’t do it you have issues… surf phobia issues

  • What am amazing feeling it is to confront your fears and “go for it!” I’m so proud of my two girls, who picked up this live crab, legs writhing and claws ready to pinch! I think one of the most valuable lessons you can teach your children is that there are really very few things in life you need to be afraid of; you just need to know how to tackle them. (Something I’m still learning myself!) This image is a bit of an experiment for me. I blurred a grey-scale copy of the original image and clone-brushed the crab back over from the original.

  • The pain of having a fear of groups of people.

  • See what people said about spaghetti worms shirt! Another Bandit Bird shirt…in the flesh! runner up for buyers booth prize, featured in buyers booth! Yum! / Recently discovered is the rare and elusive Bandit Bird, about which very little is known. As with many birds, differences between individuals are not obvious to the human eye. In fact so little is known of this bird that there may not even be a male and female form! Even less is known about their breeding habits. From ornithologists observations it appears, however, that Bandit Birds are faithful friends, devoted parents and enthusiastic gourmets! This one was designed for a speed tee challenge. Until that challenge it was not known that Bandit Birds could suffer from vermiphobia. If anyone is interested in having this as a card just bubblemail me!

  • I found this Wolf Spider in the drain outside my house. I almost drowned it when tipping out some water mixed with detergent i’d been using for cleaning. It was unable to get out of the drain. Knowing this, I prepared my photography equipment and headed outside. I took a number of shots, including some for focus stacking, but unfortunately these didn’t work out. This was the best shot from that photoshoot. After taking the pictures, I helped the Spider out of the drain (I put a twig next to it and it hooked one of its legs onto it and I was able to pull it out of the drain). It was very tame throughout the whole process. I then caught it in a jar and released it somewhere away from my backyard! :)

  • ...Sophie’s saliva phobia was out of control again / after a relapse of OCD and agrophobia she was a real mess – life can be so unkind - pen drawing on a slip of scrap paper when far too tired doing silly doodles at 2am – strange thoughts creep in like this one … welcome to Little Profiles – a new series Others in the Little Profiles series: /

  • This image, a mixture of photography and digital painting, features the face of the young girl in “Stepping Stones,” a marble sculpture created by William Hamo Thornycroft in 1878, and which is now located in the Kibble Palace, part of The Botanic Gardens in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, Europe. The girl is in the process of carrying an infant across a brook, thus the intent look on her face. It just so happened that a spider came along just as the photoraph was being taken. I’ve taken the liberty of painting on bright red lips.
