Hello and welcome to all Red Bubblers in this group! I am really excited about reading, exploring and debating artistic pieces of work that are so typical of so many talented writers on RB. A few house rules: (1) Let’s try to keep it to 1-2 downloads per person on a daily basis to allow the work to be viewed and not flood the group page please. / (2) Have fun and be as creative as you like / (3) When commenting or feeding back remember to be sensitive – artists are sensitive people! / (4) Any queries about the group – send me a Bubblemail and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. / (5) Any ideas or suggestions – I’m all ears Most of all enjoy! Here’s to an unfolding magical journey of creativity and the inspiration that comes with being part of such a wonderful group of people! Suzanne

  • My origami calendar A sailboat folded out of a 6×10mm piece of paper rowing along the lifeline in my palm. Wow I didn’t realize my hand had all these lines :P. I didn’t turn this into a black and white this time because I managed to get a cool light on my hand to make it more waterlike. The flow of life is parrallel to a journey off the land. It begins smooth, then the waves of adulthood brings high tides which we must overcome, However at the end of the ride, everything is smooth again. Ironically the lifeline in my palm depicts this flow; it begins smooth, then there is a big split and begin to ruffle, but towards the end it comes back together again. This concept was originally generated in May 2008, but I bought a tripod later on and re-shot this on September 2, 2009 For a better idea of scale: / / / This work has been featured in: / Two Word Challenge / / / Also available at Zazzle / / / / Works by Category / / Origami / Drawings,Paintings and Graphics / Abstract Photography / Guessing Games Flowers, Trees and Plants / Water and Waterscapes / Scenery/Skyscapes / Light, Shadow, and Reflections / Still Life Living Creatures / Human Portrait Japanfluence / Canada / Europe More sample origami: / / / / / / / / / ‘Serenity’, the Firefly spacecraft (My own design) / / / / / / / / / / /

  • Our planet is slowly dying of disrespect. Governments and industries are not doing enough to stop the global warming process. People have changed their daily habits, sometimes quite a bit, to help control pollution, but in many cases, it’s only as long as there is no extra cost or too much effort involved. In the meantime the Earth is sick, bleeding to death. Another composite created for a challenge. I’m really pleased with myself because I wanted a texture layer with splatters or drippings or leaking of some kind, and I was about to purchase a stock image, when I decided to try making my own. I went through my things, and picked a tube of bright red poster paint, which I diluted with a bit of water to make it manageable, added corn syrup for texture and a splash of concentrated beef stock to darken the mix. I used a kitchen brush to make the splatters on an old board and made several shots. When my son walked in, for a moment he thought that I had injured myself seriously or that I gone mad and butchered the dog! ;-) Position cursor over the thumbnails for more details on how these photos were used Featured in the Anticonsumerism group on March 16, 2009 1st place winner in the Experimenting with Media challenge of the Experimental Group on March 19, 2009 Finished in 8th position of Top Ten in the Unconventional Flower challenge of the Unconventional Artistry group on May 8, 2009 Also available as a T-shirt in my greeting cards and clothing portfolio and while over there , perhaps you could take the opportunity to add me my to your watchlist… ;-) /

  • Letting go to swim in the heat of day I jump, frown, feel dizzy and hold onto the side of a doorway. As if I will fall. Or maybe the door is falling. I am only threading a needle with time and hoping today with be tomorrow and yet then it will be too soon. I feel as if I’m hanging on by a thread. And the next day is similar. I don’t understand what is the problem. Then I realize there really isn’t one. So it’s OK. I can let go of the thin safe string and drift out to sea or to the clouds or just across the street or inward to a place of forever color and never ending sign posts leading to my soul. / Hanging on by a Thread is acrylic, gesso, ink on canvas 30 in. X 30 in.

I’ve been reflecting upon some things I’ve read about Stefan Sagmeister, and one of the things he does is write lots of lists, i do that also…. he wrote a list once about things he’d learned….and i just had the impulse to do the same thing…. Perhaps you’d like to reflect also on what you’ve learned, and please feel free to write your own and link it back to this writing…. or perhaps just share it with me here, anything special you’ve learned….
