The view looking out onto Broad Street from a third-floor window of the Divine Lorraine Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. The hotel, which has been abandoned since the late ‘90s, takes it’s name from the leader of the Universal Peace Mission movement, Father Divine (aka George Baker) who housed his followers on it’s premises. Shot on Fuji Velvia 50 film with a Rolleiflex medium format camera.
This is as the name says a night shot of Philadelphia.Notice a bright starburst light and very bright city hall (center left) as well as the new addition to the Philly skyline on the right of the photo beside the building with the lit up pyramid is the mostly complete Comcast tower. This photograph was taken in the Main Auditorium on the top floor of the Divine Lorraine Hotel. The hotel is located on North Broad Street in Philadelphia, and has been abandoned since the late 90’s. In the cold autumn evening they gather to feast together. What a loving sight this is to behold! There was no fear of me, they did not run. I felt like a special guest invited to gather with them. And so … I did … I feasted on their beauty! OH …. And I MUST say ............................. WAY TO GO PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES - we waited a long long time for this :)

The shot which spawned another art piece
Taken December 9th, 2007 in Philadelphia. About this image: / At the time, it’s intent was to be just a snapshot; to show that I was at the HRC and that I ate there. But the more I looked at it, the more I thought of it as a truly great photograph because there’s repetition and lines, good composition and because I really feel that I captured the place, the feel. So if (for some reason) HRC in Philly’s torn down, we will have this photo to remember it by.

Taken December 9th, 2007 in Chinatown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
I was standing at the top of the stairs at the Philadelphia Art Museum when I took this shot last June. If the scene looks familar, millions of people have viewed this cityscape through the eyes of Rocky from the movie by the same name! These were the steps Rocky used for his training before a boxing match. The view is similar, but not identical due to the construction of new buildings in Philly. The tall building in the center that is still under construction is now the tallest building between Manhattan and Miami. At the base of these stairs, on grass just to the left of this photo is a life sized bronze statue of Rocky.
