BEST VIEWED LARGER CURENT ENTRY IN MORNINGS AND EVENINGS CHALLENGE THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT THis shot was taken from Berrys Bay/ Balls Head Park on the north shore of Sydney taken on Wednesday 28th May 2008 around 5pm. As you can see the clouds herald what is to come, the buildings are lit by pre storm light combined with the last rays of day light. The storm that followed was quite severe with 868 recorded lightning strikes, just have to love the clouds and light. Equipment used Nikon D300 and Nikon 18 – 200mm lens. /

On the wide open plains of the Kruger National Park, South Africa, we happened upon this large, lone bull. He seemed to be going somewhere, as he detoured around us slightly, wary of our clicking and whispering. When the brief encounter was over, we both went on our way, perhaps, I’d like to think, better for the meeting…

BEST VIEWED LARGER This shot taken from MIlsons Point directly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the lights and skyline of the city on the opposite shore. Taken around midnight the waters of Sydney are lit with colours of the rainbow. For visitors to Sydney , you can walk across to Milsons point, or catch train trip to Milson’s Point station. This shot was taken with no filters with a Nikon D300 and Nikon 18-200mm lens securely mounted on a Manfrotto Tripod, using three bracketed exposures which were then processed using Photomatix HDR Software. BEST VIEWED LARGER Berrys Bay is located on the Northern shore of Sydney Harbour . The harbour has many bays and tributaries. Berrys Bay /Balls Head Reserve can be reached by train from the city, you alight at Waverton Railway Station. The former BP Berry’s Bay bulk fuel storage and distribution terminal is located on the cliffs and foreshore area of Balls Head/Waverton Peninsula approximately 1.6 km northwest of the Sydney CBD. The site was operated by BP Australia as a fuel storage and distribution facility from the early 1920s. BP’s operations ceased in 1993 and the tanks were demolished in the mid 1990s. Premier Bob Carr announced in 1997 that this site, together with the Coal Loader and Caltex Sites on the other side of the peninsula would be preserved as Public Open Space It now has been returned to the public, as part of Sydney Harbour National Park, as you can see it is a magical site with wonderful panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge , Sydney Opera House (you can see under the bridge) the Sydney Skyline. Thank god governments make some good decisions returning open spaces to the people not the Developers. And yes England did send convicts to Australia for punishment Equipment used : Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200mm lens, no filters and processed using Photomatix My continuing journey into HDR continues ! On a moody Spring evening, dense but scattered clouds roll across the bay threatening to open up and pour on anything that falls their path. The setting sun casts its light across the clouds making them glow in a way that makes them appear to be on fire. The stunning colour of the sand comes up through the shallow water in unusual blues and greens while at the same time mixing with the oranges and reds of the sky.

THIS IS A BIG IMAGE VIEW LARGER FOR BEST RESULTS This shot was taken from Echo Point in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area at sunset, it was created from 5 bracketed images using a Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikon 18-200mm. No filters were used. The rock formations to the left are known as “The Three Sisters” the image was taken at sunrise looking past the Sisters certainly have a great view. The Blue Mountains are located 2 hours west of Sydney by road, also by train for visitors to Sydney, there are also organised day trips via motor coach that will take you to the area for the day…. though if you have the time spend a few days in the area. You can see all the attractions, have a devonshire tea in one of the many teahouses, or sit on the edge of the valley that seems to go on forever, and listen to the birdlife. Bushwalking is a must !

This shot was taken at Dawn from the building I work in it shows the Spire of St Francis Xavier Church at Lavender Bay in the North Sydney CBD. The Sydney Harbour Bridge links the North Sydney CBD with the Sydney CBD. There has been a church on the site since the early days of the settlement of the colony of Sydney Town. This side of the harbour offers panoramic views and the cheapest way to explore Sydney is with an explorer pass . Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200 lens, no filters, processed usin Photomatix HDR Software My continuing experience with HDR is a learning one some tries work the way you expect sometimes they are a bit different… but hey it’s fun !

I lived in Australia for a year as do all backpacking Irish guys and for 7months of that year I lived here in Cardigan street, No.78. I lived with Matt, Michelle and Michelle and of course mad bad Jason also Adrian, English Gav and some other bloke whose name escapes me, Dando the dog god rest his soul, the sisters of Michelle L., Lily and Eda who visited with food from somewhere after they had a day working in Glebe market or not. The band I remember that the household liked, amongst numerous others was You Am I and we saw them in the Annandale as well as Skunk Anansie. I went home via Los Angeles and New York and 6 months later another Philip from Dublin had moved in. He turned out to be my classmate from a DTP course we did together in Dublin City. He told me himself in Hogans Bar Dublin in 1998. F…ing small world man! / This is Michelle on the classic smashed up house share sofa, which was not brown.
